I think your idea is a great one, DreamDeaf. It's been a while since we've had an AD meet. A central location is fine, and there's plenty of time to plan ahead since the meet will hopefully take place somewhere in 2006.

Let's not hope that this is going to happen. If this is what we want, let's all make this a reality. For now I would like for everyone to give us your feedback and suggestions. :)

What is to see in St. Louis (city)? St. Louis is a nice little city but I'd not want to return there anytime soon.

How about meeting in New York City? Alex has done so much for the deaf community, he hasn't asked y'all to help him with the bills to pay to keep up with alldeaf.com, which is so expensive to keep up with all. How about making the New York City-Northern New Jersey-Long Island, NY-NJ-PA metropolitan area (alldeaf.com's home) as our gathering place?

It is a lot easier to fly in and out of New York City – from around the country and elsewhere than it is in a city like St. Louis. :)
 
I choose in 2006, because in 2007 there's deaflympic in UTAH which i would like to go.. since i can't afford both trips in same year :D

maybe each state could carpool? like ohio people get together then carpool to st louis?
 
To Californians, I wonder if are you people plan to go over by airplane or car? if car, why not we drive together or something?

The reason why I suggested St. Louis is because it's more central than NYC - and also I know I can get a good deal with a hotel here in downtown St. Louis. I had planned on getting sponsors for the Caucus, to help defray the cost of the hotel and possibly the room for the banquet if we plan to have one. We all would be responsible for the registration/banquet cost, and rooms are at your own cost, of course. If I am able, the sponsors would help defray other costs such as postage, ball/meeting room cost (depending on number), other costs...

Right now, I am in charge of the 2005 MoAD Conference in St. Louis, MO and I was thinking I might be able to get the same hotel at possibly the same cost...if it is decided on St. Louis.

Brian, you are welcome to being the host and having it at NYC, however, I do not know NYC that well, and you will have to become responsible for the Caucus ~ which means if something goes wrong, you WILL become responsible.

I am willing to take the risk here in St. Louis, because I know the city well, having lived here since I was 5 years old, and I know where to get the best deals and sponsors.

Of course, any monies left over would go to the AllDeaf fund, as I'd like to see it keep truckin' on.

I am sure that no many people can see or understand the risk that I am willing to take ~ and there might be second thoughts now, because if you want it in a different city, that's fine, no pblm at all...heh heh...but remember, I cant do it in a different city because I don't know that city at all, therefore I will not be responsible.

As I stated before, it's up to the AllDeaf members of where they want it to be.

If I do that I will save some money and put aside for 2006.. it sound good idea to do it in central.. if it's going to be in st.louis then I get a chance to see my childlhood friend too also a non-member from AD that I would LOVE to meet the most would be Kitty who lives in Illiniois! she has been very busy gal lately.. :(

I agree with DreamDeaf... Beside I already went to New York in the City. I want to go somewhere I've never been before St. Louis is something I would wanna see. and It's in the middle too and perfect for others can make it easier to get there than in NewYork City. Of course that is in my opinion. :D


Liebling? Where can you be able to meet at? (Somewhere in the United States) Maybe one of us alldeaf members can pick u up wherever you are at. Not in Germany through LOL! ;)
 
I definitely agree with DreamDeaf, it should be somewehre in central of the United States so that way Western and Eastern states can come and meet over the central states. I think its for the best if it's central. Other than that, we could make other time to host later on one in Western and one in Eastern later on, who knows when... That's my opinion.
 
technically the centre of the 48 States is in Nebraska. Shouldn't we meet in Neb?

It’s very possible that we could work something out if you’re interested in visiting the Los Angeles area. We own two houses, and have plenty of spare room. We could trade time here in exchange for an equal amount of time in Germany. However, we live quite far from the usual L.A. attractions such as Disneyland, Hollywood, etc.

Let me know where you can go in America and I am sure whatever you decide anyone would open their arms out for you to take you to the St. Louis party. :hug:
