Damn you George W. Bush and the Wall Street fatcats

Hold your horse!
I do not believe that we can control our government. LinuxGold said that we can do it, then how will you do it?

We, the people.... (Constitution)

I didn't say we "can" do it, we HAVE the responsibility to GOVERN the GOVERNMENT and we SHOULD do it. Our problem is the hesitation, the ability to unify, the ability to voice out our needs, the ability to ACT and our opinions are seriously in conflict.

To be honest, in my opinion, we will NEVER recover. The government that we have right now is like a glue that holds us together. That glue is about ready to give out. We are acting like constitution doesn't exist, everything that we see today is completely redefined for the WORSE.

No, the president Clinton is the one who open up with trade agreement with China, don't forget that.

Hold your horse!

I think that it has to do with China's massive products that we have in the U.S.A. We need to change is to do by making our products that made in U.S.A. That's why George Bush's idea to get the products from China, and it was his biggest mistake in the history. That's why we need to boost up our American products to help us to survive our living and business. In fact, Bush's old times that he failed his own several businesses far before he became the governor of Texas.

I do not believe that we can control our government. LinuxGold said that we can do it, then how will you do it?

We also should reduce the tax on import in our country from Europe. And we also should increase the export to China and Mexico. It's because most of our cars are made in Mexico. I am sorry for Mexicans, but they should start the war in their own country to restore the democracy.

sablescort - I am sorry that you are so pissed off that you worked for the company for a long time. It is totally unfair.

Who made the oil price plummet?

The oil price had plummed BECAUSE less people can afford buy oil, thus forcing price dropped, it is all within customer and citizens not the government.

President Nixon once took over the price control for 90 days back in 70's sure screwed up economy big time after 90 days ended.

Finally the only way to get our government revamped by who? E V E R Y B O D Y!

Americans' attitude nowadays is "NOT MY JOB! IT IS THEIR JOB!" That is HOW these greedy fatcats and politicans took advantage of it.

This was a hypothetical post by a economist in 2007, as he made this entry on 12/17/2007. That was when gas was still going strong at $3-4 depending on where.

Why Oil Prices Will Drop - Economics Column - John Cassidy - Portfolio.com

Based on the comments 1 year ago, many people were saying this guy did not know what the hell he was talking about. Call it blind reasoning, if you will.

Am I the only person who thinks that more than half the thread should get merged or moved over into On topic/debate section?
The logic and comments provided outside of the OP's job loss (sorry for that again), are fairly well constructionized and use of theorizing is evident.

Sablescort, I would like to share somethin' with you. I think it would be best if, you don't mind goin' to Barnes & Noble store and find the book that's called, " Fleeced " - the authors are : Dick Morris & Eileen McGann. In the back of its cover inside the book, it says that Dick Morris served as Bill Clinton's political consultant for 20 years. And Eileen is an attorney and consultant, works with Dick on campaigns around the world. Maybe, it can help you to protect yourself from losin' important things such as job, house, and etc., etc.

I've read this book and it's an eye openin' book. Hope the book helps some in your situation to understand what's happenin' behind all this.

Hang in there!

Any book written by Dick Morris would make good toilet paper.

Blaming China doesn't do any good. They are our landlord now. Making products in the US won't solve most of this problem because the money will go to China.

That's why they've been saying, the next business boom is all going to be in China. Everyone was saying, the next best language to learn should be espanol, but now they're like Chinese, Chinese, Chinese! Foo Sun Kong Mi Hiyah kung-fu. Ok, have had enough fun of trying to make an caucasian impression of the language. But I know you white folks are!

I only know how to say the name of one of my co-workers, who is Chinese. She is only a temp though but her named is spelled Xiuxia (pronounced chu cha).

Not a bad idea to learn basic Chinese although English is the dominant language--worldwide.

There's more people speak Chinese in the world, and there's more countries have the English as official.

Oh my dear, I'm very sorry that it affect you... that's suck... :(

My hubby was being force to stay home since yesterday to 10th January 2009 because Robert Bosch GmbH (the world's biggest car-parts supplier and rank) have to lock due no car parts deliver since October.
I'm sorry about that. Bosch here is also having problems:
Automotive parts maker Robert Bosch Corp., one of the Charleston region's biggest private-sector employers, said Thursday that it will cut its local payroll by offering voluntary buyout packages to all 2,100 workers at its local plant.

Layoffs will be considered if enough workers do not take the buyout, said Bosch spokeswoman Becky MacDonald. The company would not disclose the number of positions it hopes to eliminate....

This is what makes me feel resentful and bitter about.

well I already explained why it isn't entirely government's fault for our demise. People take loans out for cars, real estates, etc. Government did not make people borrow money. Deregulated or regulated, it is still people's responsibility to know what they're getting into. Just because the government made it easier doesn't mean you can go out and spend spend spend.

and well - our parents did not learn money issues from their schools either. You should not be spoon-fed on everything. There are some things you have to do for yourself.

People took out loans when they could afford it and then the value of the American dollar goes down which nobody predicted so how are people at fault? Last year, I brought home more money and this year I didnt add any new bills, got a raise, BUT I bring home less money and the cost of foods, gas (when it was high), and etc went up. What gives? That is what got so many people in trouble, not the loans they took out.

Also, I am feeling a bit distrustful of our govt...why are gas prices so low? Makes me think that there was no reason for them to go up so high causing people to be broke and now that everyone is broke, they go down? That makes me suspicous..

My neighbors both got laid off in the past few months.

My aunt might get laid off from the job she had for 30 years.

My mom thinks she wont have a job next year.

You already know about my dad.

So, all these people getting laid off are unable to sell their houses, refinance their cars or houses, forced to pay high costs for foods, and etc.

Some of you talk about saving money to be prepared...I will use myself as an example...while in college, my ex left me so I had to support myself thru college since I knew I wouldnt get a teaching job without my degree. During the 2 years of supporting myself on a part time job paying $10 an hour, I had to use my credit cards for gas and food cuz I had no cash which left me with heavy debt. Got my teaching job but it was contractual for the first two years so whenever we were off, I didnt get paid and had no health insurance so I got a 2nd full time job. Worked 2 full time jobs for 2 years, paid off most of my debt which was my primary focus..didnt save money. Got pregnant forcing me to quit the 2nd job, but my teaching job was finally permanment with benefits. My hubby and I had a rough start financially cuz the gas prices were starting to climb and the housing costs were so high here in MD so we moved into a dangerous neighborhood in a rental townhouse with a low rental fee. We were able to save money and we wanted to buy a house so we bought our house. All was fine..we were comfortable and continued to save then the economy and the American dollar went downhill..all of sudden, we werent able to save and started borrowing from our savings and now we are out of money in our savings and then things started happening...my truck broke down, the windows were in bad shape and couldnt stay closed, and etc...how we did pay for all that?...thru credit cards since we had no savings left. Now, all of sudden, we run out of money before each paycheck cuz everything is so expensive...diapers,foods, and etc.

That's practically how most people find themselves in trouble so that's why I disagree with many of you that the people are at fault for spending or not saving. Most people I know did everything right and now they are struggling and some of them end up with bankrupties or foreclosures.
