Saw the eye specialist today and finally have my surgery scheduled or the first week of May....looking so much forward to it. If all goes well (lens) and my vision is improved then I won't have to have another surgery for the scar tissue on the right eye (retina)....(fingers crossed).... Friend of mine said she had the surgery...and her vision was excellent....like an "eagle"....Still buggy-eyed from all the tests and eye drops.

far out , good luck with that!...sure it will fine

Still sick here.. taking cough medicine for the cough and tylenol for the fever. Jasmine tea to make my chest and throat feel better. It would be nice if I could be on medicaid but I'm not old enough, disabled enough, and I have no children.. so they turned me down. I'm afraid to go to the emergency room. The last time I went, after treatment, they locked me in a billing room for 3 hours. They came in for a bit, asked me if I was paying, how much I was paying, why I couldn't pay, when I could pay, how much could I pay today, etc... then they would leave me in the locked room for 30 minutes and come back and do it again. I'd just had a miscarriage and I was already an emotional wreck... that made it worse. They finally turned me loose and billed me for it... several thousand dollars.. and it went on my credit because I couldn't afford to pay it on time. So I stay away from the emergency room.

I have a cold. Not quite that bad that I can phone in sick and get away with it, but not that mild so I can shrug it off easy. Annoying.

Are there any other hospitals or medical aid units you can go to. That hospital was downright rude & bullying you.
Some hospitals, non-profit I believe, are required to assist people with their medical bills. Maybe contact a consumer help group for info. You may even be able to do something about the previous bill. I just saw in TV about a woman who got her bill reduced.

that's just unbelivable!! that's NOT a health system, its a Killing system. Frankly im quite shocked reading your post erily, its not good. all this about money as a way to buy your rights to live, how disgusting America has got. sorry had to say it, I just DON'T like american health systems, never had, and sometimes i feel llike some doctors or administrators should be tried for murder!...as that hospital-related deaths are far far higher than -deaths by guns in the streets - seriously.

WHAT's the Point of 'emergency room"??! if they aren't gonna help At all?? its just ridiculous.

When you get better, so a bit of detective work , find out where you could go ,next time, have a plan, ask them , blah blah, like find out wheres the next far one out, and work out transport, then have it written down somewhere , i dunno, i dont live in the states (glad i don't!) sometimes experience are the best teachers, so lets try make it from yours, you learned a better way. dammit, fight the system, get smarter, and maybe...google 'tactics, and how to assert rights with bad hospital adminstrators' i dunno but something like that, maybe their might be useful 'know-how' to take note of.
Cheer up, keep Warm, and FEED the Cold, yes feed the cold, drink lemon -scented waters (cut lemon into quarter squeeze juice and/or leave the whole cuts of quarters (4 of them) in a jug of cold water, and pour that in a glass, it's a duirate (SP?) it helps to flush out toxins from body, drink plenty of clean water (with or without lemon)

get well soon

I agree.. it's definitely a flawed system.. somtimes I feel like it's a caste system where some people have more of a right to health and life than other people.. but all we can do is fight to change that and the wheels of bureaucracy turn very very slowly lol

I figure, at this point, I may as well just ride it out since I've been sick so long. Like you said, I will try to have a plan next time I get sick. I will do the lemon and water thing for sure! Thank you :)

I have always been lazy about cleaning house because I never got visitors. I'm going to have 2 old friends visit today. I'm very excited about that!!! It motivates me to clean house for a change.

Are you sure you are talking Medicaid and not Medicare here.

We had Medicaid when I was in Missouri and it was for the family. Then it became for my kids only. After getting back here to Florida, we had Medicaid for the kids and now we don't. We have a few neighbors and friends, that are working part time, do not qualify for insurance through their employer, but are on Medicaid.

I hope you have a great time with your friends!

I am the same way - sometimes it's hard to get motivated. Sometimes I'll have plans to have someone come over, and I'll clean clean clean, and then they cancel. And then I have a clean house all for myself. I feel like I should send them a thank-you card.

Exactly!!! I've gotten started and boy, it feels good!! I agree with you on the thank you note. I'll send them a thank you note regardless of whether they visit or not.

had a bit of an off-day with the hearing world...
firstly in the morning was all good, then went to hossy for ENT appt to check ear, i TOLD them at the reception to TAP me,so i awaited a while, then a nurse comes up, the receptionist did not tell her, the nurse proceeded to call out my name very quiet...i was bemused, and then the ENT doctor why not CI, i said no I don't want it. then he wrote down 'do you go to lip reading from the hearing association? hell NO! im Deaf, not hearing impaired (he knows full well how Deaf i am) what a prick. i was staring back at him looking at him as if he's really stupid...
then went to a high school's Deaf unit to talk about research, kinda weird and cagey there....then on the bus rolls my eyes really rudes people there, excep the last driver who's a good sort..
oh well

what a day
no dramas, but just one of those uglier days when you really see hearing's shit ignorant attitudes...i WISH there's a DEAF POLICE and Deaf COURTS for those 'ignorance crimes' as I'd call it, its makes me really pissed off and sick in the gut.

oh well
come another day, hope its better than it was today...as always...

I have a sign hanging in my kitchen that says "My house was clean last week sorry you missed it":laugh2:

Many times when we would clean my girls would ask "are we having company"

My friend and I say we have a 'crazy lady' that come into our homes and mess it all up right after we had it all cleaned up! I heard of one woman that always kept a vacuum cleaner in her living room , and if she had unexpected
the woman would say she was just about to do her rugs!
