I have a Story to tell... My Children and I went to Taco Bell Today and went to the Drive Thru and This Lady told me in the speaker box to pull up the window cuz she didn't understand me so I went to the window and she said do u have a cold? IM like no ... and I said IM deaf and she was like omg another deaf person!! I'm like is that a problem? and she was like well yes because i have no patient with deaf people I'm like oh is that so? well too bad take my order and she was like no i don't think so IM like really? u are getting paid to run the register and IM a customer weather IM deaf or not ur job is to take all orders not just somebody u want to take orders from and she was like well.. IM not taking ur order so.. why don't u go in the dine room and placed ur order IM like ... Ugh i told her to get the manger and she said sorry IM not going to IM like fine so i speed up and parked and took the kids in and i told the lady up front i want the manager and the manager came and i told him about her attitude this lady and he said really? and he went and get her omg she denied it all i was shocked
she said i don't have a clue who this girl is she never came to the drive thru
IM like *gasp* my son saw it and say yes you were rude to my mom and don't lie and this manger said well let me tell u what I have a camera by the register let me find out if you were there she was blushing so bad that she knows she busted so the manger came back and told her that she was fired and she was like huh???? I was like wow.. that was quick so he gave me a free food on the house so we order a whole bunch of shit.. And he Even apology the way I was treated today....At Least that Attitude Lady is Fired. *waving Bye Bye* :thumb: :giggle:

:::patting Cheri on the back:::

Way to go, babe! That little bitch deserved to be fired. It's her job to take orders...I don't think she'll ever work at Taco Bell again...

Her fast-food career is over. Maybe she will find a job sweeping parking lots now. :) Garbage-related job for garbage-attitude people. :)

I Kinda feel bad she Lost her Job but it didn't have to be this way if she just took my order.. Right? But, She made a Choice to be Rude. What a Shame.

Good for you Cheri. I guess the girl learned her lesson, but her hatred/ignorance will increase multifold and influence other hearies to hate deafies too.

I would probably have done it very differently. I would have just smiled and remain parked in the drive thru. I would invoke the ADA law and say if you are calling the police, they will catch you breaking the law. Usually, the manager comes by and then I smile. I would say "would you please instruct your cashier to serve a deaf customer in drive thru?" and then the manager would be like of course and tell the girl to do it. I hate making confrontations, and I have had this incident happen 2 times with me which I did all this as I said above. Problem solved. Dont want an employee to be fired just because she was uninformed about the law requirements of providing equal access to deaf and HOH customers.

That's a good point, Kuifje, about breeding hatred with certain approaches. I would hate for somebody to be fired IF she wasn't trained about ADA by her employer.

Still, the worker needed to learn that wasn't acceptable (AFTER having served deaf customers before), and the boss/manager chose to fire her to teach her this. Obviously he/she might know something about that worker we don't. Cheri didn't ask for her to be fired, as far as I understand - only stood her ground FIRMLY without calling her names which is admirable! Treat others as you would want to be treated, a pretty damn good lesson for that ex worker. :cheers: We should not really "enable" other hearies just because we are afraid of them hating deafies - think of Cheri's approach as a way of giving that worker an opportunity to change or not. The worker can choose to change her views towards deafies or not. It should not be Cheri's fault either way. :)

Of course, not all approaches would for everyone. Nuthin wrong with that - we always learn from something, right? :fingersx:
