Another Shooting Spree

there's nothing to argue in here. I'm just telling you that the article is most likely fake. there's no concrete additional information in there. there's nothing to verify his story.

therefore.... it's probably fake. and plus - it's off-topic.

About the letter writer:

Prison Life Is Hard - Hartford Courant

So maybe he DOES want to stay in prison. Then that letter makes sense.
I would think that it sure would give his parole board second thoughts about releasing him. He's as much admitted (bragged) that he isn't rehabilitated from a life of crime.

not gonna break my wallet for that

If you can wait it will come down more. Probably not to what it used to be but much better than it is. A lot of the prices are being driven up this time around by people that bought it all up for resale. They saw what happened last time and now they want to get in on it. Once demand slows down I think there will be a lot of resellers with ammo they can't get rid of.

If you felt you needed ammo though that's not crazy money like it was a few months ago. I think you would have paid 5x that IF you could have found it.

Here is a thought for your day, Crazypaul...

There was a guy near my home, for so many years, he refused to learn drive, is afraid to drive. Rather walk instead, just because he was thinking it is safer to walk than to drive. So he never drive, walks all the time out of fear. Know what happened in the end? He got killed by walking! He was about 30 years old... If had he drove, he will be alive today and already over the hill.

So, if your worried too much, it will happen to you. We can not control our own death by hundred percent. Death will come to you and everybody else regardless, only time will tell. My advice, quit worry and be happy... You could live much longer.

Chances are, probably he got mental illness.

No sane person would such thing like that.

Edit: Just read article again, yup he has mental illness.

A law enforcement source with knowledge of the investigation told CNN on Saturday that the gunman had suffered from mental health issues. A few years ago, he was hospitalized for treatment after allegedly talking about harming someone, according to the official.
5th victim dead in Santa Monica shooting
Santa Monica shooter 'ready for battle'
Santa Monica shooting timeline of events
Fire to gun rampage, one mile of terror

It's not clear whether the state government or his family committed him for treatment or whether he committed himself. It's also unclear under what circumstances he was released.

Authorities have found no link to domestic or international terrorism, the official added.

Were the shooter a mental illness???

Thank you. i have a hard time understanding why if people think any person is safe to go out then any person end up becoming a shooter for many reasons. jeez

There is no parole in federal prison - they removed it in 80's.

I know one thing for sure, most people with mental illness usually don't have job or lack of decent job, and depend on government for assistance. Because of ongoing cuts from government which means those with mental illness gets less help. Result, where do these people with short fuse go? Tighten up gun restriction isn't going to stop them from killing. There are many ways to kill people, gun isn't just singular method of killing. Unless government step up spending and help those with mental issues, there isn't much we can do.

I would argue that anyone with an IQ high enough to know what they are doing and is capable of killing innocent people like this has to be mentally ill.

IQ has nothing with mentally ill.

Schizophrenia is part of mentally ill and they don't know about wrong to do killing spree - insanity.

Like Ted Kaczynski?? Could be true but I seriously think he got away with the insanity defense. He has very high functioning IQ and clearly knew what he was doing. Sorta thing same case with James Holmes but we'll have to wait till the trial.

I didn't say that it did. I put that in there because someone with a very low IQ may not understand that what they are doing is wrong. I'm also not saying that everyone that IS mentally ill is a murderer or anything like that.

I think that the insanity defense is good protection for people that are to mentally ill to understand what they are doing is wrong. But I don't think just being mentally ill should excuse someone for what they have done.

a good protection? well good thing insanity defense is rare and notoriously difficult.

Other than psychobabble, Kaczynski never showed signs of mental illness. It also is a sign of very high IQ to build unique bomb designs and his own communication code. So I think the IQ argument on mental illness is different depending on the person. Clearly we can't just stop at the low IQ level.
