Mall of America is the BEST place to meet... Hotel everywhere near MOA... and BARS way up to 4th floor can closed at 2 am then go to hotel...

Plently of Parking.....

Airplanes are also closer tooo!

I vote Minnesota..

It sure looks like a language barrier might be considered something to think about...although, for gals like Zesty, Cheri and Meg who plans on being a bit nasty...well, we'll be able to SEE those body expressions easily... :naughty: But surely, the majority of us tends to use facial and body expressions when signing, etc...therefore, I don't think this would be a major problem unless we could consider having an interpreter during times of group functions or gatherings...just an idea to think on...perhaps there are other good ideas to consider trying--

As for St. Louis...I've been there several times and I sure wouldn't mind going there again...especially going up the Gateway Arch on a windy day! The swaying is really something else...but then again, it's not for the weak... ;)
Others have come up with good ideas of where to meet, etc...one other thing to consider is this: Having a few ppls. being respondsible for putting this together...such as calling places, setting up reservations, etc....That's something else we can also discuss on as well...who would like to volunteer and perhaps we can have a 'vote' later on. Sorry, but yeah, more ideas for us to dwell on and consider...As for those who live outside the continental USA, perhaps we can find ways to help them out and ease on the financial burden that might otherwise be put upon them....Maybe one idea can be is to raise some sort of funding for our members who live outside USA? ( or even have some sort of funding for EVERYONE) How? Again, it's something to think on and put our heads together and work on this so it'll be truly an enjoyable and memorable time for all of us AD'ers!! Whatcha think members?

Lastly, whether any of these ideas are feasible or not...what we all can agree or disagree on, let's work together in HARMONY without having to resort to any finger-pointing...I'm sure this will take some time whereas everyone can readily agree on doing this or that, etc., whether certain ideas or feedbacks we can do without...there's no problem with that as long as we all can respect each other's thoughts and opinions here...it's like with some of the suggestions I've considered, I know that there may be a few members that might not agree, that's fine...I just like to be able to see that we each can come up with all sort of good ideas and then narrow it down to what we all can agree and decide to do....providing that's affordable for all of us and a time set whereas we all can have a awesome and great time together!!

Therefore, let's keep an open mind to everyone's feedback and suggestions--
Thank-you!!!

Let's have a cake walk with BBNT as the auctioneer!

Liebling -- YES DC does have museums in the area what is called "The Mall" (confusing for many i know) but i gotta advise u there is VERY high security -- if u want to see the WHITE HOUSE u gotta ask permission via ur embassy (or US Congressmen/women if US citizen) so that way they would be able to do some background check on anyone who wants tickets to visit the famous address at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue -- ive not been there myself  to me its just a hassle having to go via my representative *shrugs*

Museums there in DC: Museum of Natural History, American History, Hauloucaust (spelling qq) Museum, Vietnam Vet Memorial, WW2 Memorial, Smithsonian, Washington Monument, US Capitol, White House as previously mentioned, Archives bldg (where the origional Declaration of Independence is on display at) and etc

points of interests: House where Lincoln died across the street from the Ford's Theater (the Hard Rock Cafe is incidentally right next door to the Ford's Theater in DC), Gallaudet ofc  , George Washington's home outside DC in Virginia across from the Potomac River, Arlington National Cementary (VA) and other locations

websites for DC:

It sounds interesting. Thanks for your link. I save it in my favorite list. :ty:

I don't understand why California that is far on the West end of the map. That isn't central of USA. and Florida is south and end of the map too. I thought we agree on Central of USA It will be easy for everyone. Minnesota seems fine and Nebraska or MO, Those are kinda Central of USA. Everyone has to have a fair trip traveling if they are driving that wouldn't be fair for the people who lives in California to drive all the way down to Florida. or Florida drive all the way up to California. I am only trying to see what is fair for everyone. ;)

Liza, Hawaii sounds nice but too expensive for anyone. I don't think anyone could afford airline over close to 2,000.00

There are members of AD who live outside of USA who would have to spend a lot of money, and I am trying to see what is fair for everyone too. ;) 2007 would buy us all time to try for a city a little out of our way.

Ok, What is more closer to you what state in United States?

A 3 day AD Convention or Conference would be a great idea. I'm for it as our grant would pay for it as long as we're allowed to have educational exhibit (booth) at the event.

Get it sponsored by AD advertisers and other businesses that cater to the deaf communities.

These types of events take lots of time and planning and I'm sure this can be achieved by some 'lifers' here ( those with over 2,500 posts ).

Why can't Alex and E have the party? since it their forum and they should be the one hosting it <<< just an idea

I don't mind going back to NYC....beside it was awesome last time I went....

Hawaii is awesome but too expensive to go for those who live on the east of US....

I dunno if NYC is expensive for those who live out west....that is why DD had it in the central of US but that's a problem for those who live outside of US....:(

I need to point out that while San Francisco, Washington DC and Los Angeles are GREAT cities to explore, the hotel rooms there are very expensive.

Midwest US has cheaper room rates and cheaper convention room rentals as well.

I dont care much for St. Louis. I have been there FAR more than I care to remember but it looks like DD has everything covered and can get discounts etc so I don't mind going there to meet you all :)

Then you become the Chairlady and take care of everything for Minneapolis!

DD already has contacts and everything in St. Louis but if you want it to be elsewhere, you take the charge ;)
