Do you think Tourist Cities are expensive?

When you're travel to Cities for tourist. Do you think it's expensive on hotel, rental cars, restaurants, and good?

I went to Orlando, FL. There is very expensive!
 
Yes, many tourist cities are expensive and there aren't much we can do about that. I think too many tourists come to visit, which cause demand oustrips the supply which cause the costs to go up.
 
Yeah. It's expensive to live. I don't want to live in tourist place. That what my husband used to live in tourist place. He hate it! He used to live in Orlando, FL. He will never live there again. But We can visit for tourist that all. I want to be experience with travel for tourist.
 
I thought cities in Hawaii are most expensive, they want our money.
 
PowerON. Same as Florida want our money too! Tourist is so expensive on good, food, attraction and shopping.
 
Orlando is not expensive. My guy Jon lived there for over ten years. Key is in finding cheaper alternatives. Do things like the locals do......
 
They are starting to be expensive thanks to oil and gas price rising...
 
I lived near DC...very expensive and now I live near Baltimore..not cheap but not as expensive. So, the answer would be more likely a yes.
 
If it is a popular tourist destination, the prices are higher. People will pay more something like a warm climate for a winter vacation.

I went to Orlando last 2 weeks ago. You know where is International Drive and Universal Drive? They are expensive on food, attractions, and parks. You should read my posts where I went to parks in Orlando. I went to Universal Studio and saw the jewelry prices are cheaper than Disney World's jewelry.
I am not kidding you. I was first time go to Orlando in my life. I have a blast time!
 
Well, Hawaii is doubly expensive because of popular tourist location, valuable estates, and most of all most products have to be shipped into there which costs $. Like all the others say, tourist attraction will always mark up prices to raise their capitol. U are just going to have to pay more for a label at an amusement park or tourist hotspot, and they control things to where they can maintain monopolization and cost of products, and no Anti-trust laws can do anything about it.
 
It depends on where you go.

Some places are considered tourist attractions that some people wouldn't consider a tourist attraction. There are also some places that are not considered tourist attractions, but a lot of people consider them as tourist attractions.

I would rather go some place that appeals to me, not because it's a tourist attraction.

If 100 people jumped off a cliff, would you jump off a cliff too?

If 100 people think it's a great tourist attraction, does that mean it you should go?

I like to go to Philly, I think prices there are reasonable. I live near Baltimore too, I dont think its as expensive as DC or even Annapolis. I guess it depends on the tourist interest. Most touristy cities seem to be pricey, but like another member suggested, follow the locals, they know where to go and where not to.

Every city would have a "tourist area" like the French Quarter is to New Orleans, Inner Harbor is to Baltimore, the Jefferson National Expansion Memorial is to St. Louis, etc.

Those areas, I go once. I find more depth outside of the tourist areas. Of course, I have to go - expensively once.
