    Parent problems anyone?

I grew up with Schizophrenia in my family too. When she's having an episode, just remind yourself not to take it personally. She really doesn't mean it and this is her problem and a reflection of what this horrible disease is doing inside of her mind. It's hard feeling like you have to walk on...

    my girlfriend's ASL teacher

Cute! I remember when ferrets as pets were all the rage in the late 90's. I totally wanted one back then... Now, I understand why my mom said "no"... :)

    Hearing and deaf differences

You might enjoy it more. Every person/relationship is different. There are certain added stresses in a hearing/deaf relationship. I think there are little differences that both people have to get used to. For example, when I want to tell my boyfriend something, I have to physically find him...

Totally been there, done that. Congratulations on your escape! Now you can begin the healing process. It sounds like you may be angry and stressed? Those will heal with time. Focus on the future and forget about the ex. Good luck!

boyfriend + more updates about the deaf girl who follows me like a dog..

Phew! Slow down, girl! Too much drama isn't good for your health... Friends (and boyfriends) come and go. Just relax, cut the negative people out of your life, enjoy your boyfriend and ignore the gossip. :)

Hearing people who are attracted to deaf people

I do find it rather strange how many people stumble upon Alldeaf and treat it as a venue for posting a personals ad...

How Good Relationship Between Deaf Person and Hearing Person?

Yes! Respect, patience and understanding that we're all human. There are some pretty crappy hearing/hearing relationships with a lot of yelling and fighting. I could list 1000 reasons I prefer the relationship I have with my deaf boyfriend now over my hearing/hearing relationships in the past...

    Sign language for autism.

Thanks for sharing Tsujiru! My son has Autism, is 8 years old and we're starting to use sign language with him. It's wonderful to hear success stories! I'm extra motivated to really get things rolling!! :D

    Talk to me on messenger?

I think it depends on the person. I would much rather talk to someone than watch a movie. Movies just aren't that important to me. On the other hand, my brother is movie CRAZY and doesn't want any interruptions unless it's an emergency. It breaks his concentration and he loses the story line...

Hearing people who are attracted to deaf people

Your boyfriend sounds totally sincere and normal. I don't think every hearing person who dates a deaf person is obsessed. When I met my boyfriend I wasn't purposely out searching, looking for signing hands, glancing at ears for hearing aides... It was just a coincidence. I met him, liked him...

    Backburner

I totally agree with you guys. Personally, I don't see the point in keeping contact with exes. I'm not that hard up for friends. I also think people should be honest if someone asks them out and they're already in a relationship. Why would it be so difficult to say, "sorry, I'm with someone..."...

    Backburner

Do you think it's wrong to hold onto another person's contact information while dating someone, just in case things don't work out? I'm wondering if someone would do this because they're afraid of being alone or they felt flattered and liked the ego boost... Keeping people on the backburner...

Hearing people who are attracted to deaf people

Some people can be a little nutty! The other students in my ASL classes knew I was in a relationship with a deaf man. One of the girls came up to me and said, "Ooooo... I've always wanted to marry a deaf guy and have deaf babies. It's my dream!" I told her marrying a deaf man wouldn't...

    Hearing and deaf differences

Hi Jessica! I'm a hearing woman dating a deaf man so maybe I can help from that perspective..? We started dating in Nov 2010 and things were bumpy while we worked out some kinks... We actually broke up for 2 months, tried dating other people, missed each other and got back together. :aw...

    Whirlpool/Jacuzzi Advice needed!

Wirelessly posted I had the exact same thing happen with our whirlpool... ugh! Those brown flakes are gross! I believe its just old soap and dirt that made a home in the pipes. I filled the tub with cold water and ran a couple times a day. Not fun when you're ready to jump in! Eventually, it...

Restaurant to Screaming Kids' Parents: We Won't Put Up With It

I'm happy you said that. My son has Autism and has had a meltdown (ok, more like 50 meltdowns) in public. It isn't worth interrupting everyone else's meal, but he does need practice, so I try to stick to more casual/fast food restaurants. Let others enjoy their upscale restaurants in peace like...
