if you had children what would you name?

I'm currently pregnant with another girl and won't know what her name will be until birth. DH doesn't like to figure out names until we've had our babies & see what they look like. Looking at the baby it's easy to say "Oh she defintely doesn't look like a [insert name here]. She looks like a...

Are Deaf Child road signs embarrassing?

I myself didn't have one of these signs posted nearby. But did know a few people who did. My Aunt & Uncle also has neighbor w/ a deaf little girl, now all grown up & the sign is STILL there!!! When people drive by these signs, you never know which kids is the Deaf one.. so I don't really see...

For those with profound hearing loss...

My hearing loss is bilateral sensineural, which ranges from severe to profound. I don't know the answer for #1 and #2. As for #3 & #4, I grew up with hearing aids and was able to hear and understand speech very well with my hearing aids. I come from a hearing family, being the only one Deaf...

If Only There Were A Cure...

Hey Hear Again, when I had Tinnitus issues, doesn't matter if it was from my 1-2x a year as a child or from the time I went thru my nearly year of tinnitus hell. I'd get those voices where it sounded like many people were talking and I couldn't make anything out, or sounded like my Italian...

Anyone have any advice for a baby who fights sleep like it's poison?

Yes, it's a phase most around your baby's age go thru. Both of mine did, right around your baby's age too and it was pure hell!!! They'd be super cranky 'cause of the refusal to sleep. Or they'd fall asleep, but only sleep anywhere from 5-20 mins, seriously!!! Oh that phase defintely drove me...

    Tinnitus

As an adult, I hated sleeping with my aids on but when I had my oldest & husband was working 3rd shift so I slept with one aid on so I could hear her cries even though we co-slept for awhile, then I had her sleep in a toddler bed in our room just so I could feel safe that I cud hear her. I did...

Not sure about others but for me, yes!!! I during my nearly 11 months of Tinnitus hell.. I was NOT happy, and was sooo stressed out trying like hell to communicate with my family & friends. It got so bad that I just stayed away from most people 'cept my own husband, daughters & my mom 'cause...

What are high frequency sounds like?

Like someone else said, there's no "one" way to really explain what high freq sounds like. My CI audis has always been able to tell that I can hear them and canNOT stand them! They can't help but laugh because of my face expression every time it gets too high, my head turns sideway on the side...

    Ahhhhhhhhhh!

Ekkk candybrowneyes, I know exactly how you feel! I've had tinnitus from time to time as a child, but it was only 1-2 times a year if that, and minor.. it'd only keep me up at all night that night then I'd pass out from crying [cuz I was just a child, scared of what I was hearing, yanno?] then...
