:looking around: Show me where did anyone complain about the small increase in their government checks? or had whine about it?

wondering....you are one of them living on SSI or SSDI?. LOL

Sure there are people out there that would complain.

But the point is, they haven't yet in this thread....I spoke my opinion on this and yet I'm being attacked for speaking it, how lovely....

Actually I've been on SSDI only once for two years - and that was when I was having personal problems, both with drugs and probation - I've been working since I was 8 years old, yeah EIGHT years old... I worked every summer and Christmas vacation on my grandparents farm all the way through college.

I have been working part/full time jobs since 1983 - and being on the SSDI dole, it wasn't really satisfactory.

I do know some deafies would complain about such a small increase, but ... well, it's their choice. Apartments here are now up to 375 for studios and going up to 1,000 for one bedroom apartments... i dont see how those people could afford to pay rent, plus utilites AND food...

I have some friends that work part time while keeping their SSDI - they say its the only way they can supplement their income at this time... full time jobs are pretty hard to get here. Most of the jobs here are... well... a bit biased, shall I say? You need excellent communication skills to get a well-paying job.

14.00 increase?

Sheesh.

As for this thread, cool down. I have seen some ... warning signals coming up.

That right I agree w/you DD and I been work at resturant for 3 years which i m still on part time as still on SSA and not easy to find full time with good benfits and ects which i m not complain or whine abt that also i do agree with Angel too

Yeah, that is my point here. Insane low increase.

Many of you don't know me, I used to be on SSI for almost 20 years, ain't worth it. Oh well..

I am not trying to attack anyone, but felt that some of people are trying to backfire my thread.

From the looks of it after I reading this entire thread. Yes, you're attacking those who are on ssi/ssa/sddi.. :ugh:

It's none of your business or concerning to begin with, the saying is worry about yourself not worrying about what others are doing. :thumb:

It is our business since we pay our taxes to support them except for people who collect SSDI.

I am glad I am off SSA for more than two and half years now. I can not believe how much I make money nowdays and I love it.

That's true, but we don't know the real reason why they're on ssi/ssa/sddi. it's easy for people to judge others for sitting on their butt at home and not finding a job, their reasons could be medical purpose, does that give anyone a right to judge their characters?

I don't understand the".......except for people who collect SSDI" part of your sentence. Looks like the second half of that sentence clashes/is in conflict with the first hallf. Please explain...thanks

huh? except for people who collect SSDI? what do you mean by that?

SSDI u have to work more than 10 years before u can collect SSDI. It is their tax money they put in away alike your paycheck SS take them out of your paycheck. It is their earning right while people who collect SSI and SSA, they take money off from our hard working tax which I am having problem with.

When u work for more than 10 years, u will get a letter from SS and they will tell you how much money u put in SS that is when u will get retire or become permantely disabled. They earned this. As for people who collect SSI and SSA does not work much and we pay tax to help those people. hope it makes sense to u?

Care to explain?

My thread is about getting job better than sit tight in cheap apartment based on SSI checks, and that their annual increases are way too low.

I have good job, and very happy about it. This proves me something... Starting work as dishwasher at Pizza hut ACTUALLY paid off in long run! This means, that if I didn't work in Pizza Hut, it is very unlikely that I will have job like I have right now.

I'm tell you about have SSI checks won't give you what you want for lifestyle. My job pay well, make enough what I want to do.. fun fun fun and for retire.

Ohh...:ty: Jazzy for explaining it clearly....

True, I do judge my friends for staying home after they quit good pay jobs and not want to find another jobs then they whine, and complain" we can not afford this or that". What I did in the past was bad example to them. I was staying home mom and collected SSA. I did not want to work for many years because I believed one parents should stay home and take care of kids. They saw and went ahead to do same thing. Now I am working full time job and I resent I pay tax on some of them so they can get high and party.

Care to tell me where I am attacking? The first person trying to attack me is Miss P! Oh excuse me Ms. Patrice... DeafLilMedia. And the post number is 6 in this thread.

Your welcome. My husband just got SSDI but I perfer him not to collect SSDI but save it for retirement. Now that he is not able to work ever so we had no choice but force ourselves swallow our pride and collect SSDI. After 10 years of collecting SSDI, his money will run out then. Then it is possible he will transfer to SSA which come out from taxpayers' paycheck. who knows.

Care to tell me where I am attacking? .

You stated those who whine about their amount of income they received from ssi/ssa/sddi, should shadd-up and get a job. Is it their fault that they have a medical injured for the reason of not working?

Be careful how you wording out words on your posts without offended someone with a medical purpose.
