What happened to me today!

When I went to a drive-thru at one time, they refused to take my order, and asked me to come in the restaurant, I informed them that I have every right to use the drive-thru just like everyone else, I told them to either take my order or I'll see you in court, take your pick. So they decide to take my order. ;)

You've got guts! :applause:

From what I was told that in some places in Asia, deaf people are viewed as not being normal and are put away from the society.

No really, we visited to some Asia countries... They are sooooo friendly and feel sorry for our deafness... We were being treat like King and Queen there because they feel sorry for our deafness... also Greece as well... :aw: They do served us...

Yes, they were shock when we saw us because we can everything which they thought deaf can't everything... I have seen deafies there and feel sad for them because they think deafies are mental, diease or whatever... We convinced them what deaf is about...

Where in Asia? that sounds like what Japanese would do. It is true that deaf people weren't treated decently in Asia. They were viewed as invalid and useless - an outcast.

Singapore, Malaysia and Thailand. It's not just them but Cyprus and Greece as well because we experienced there.

that would be Phillipines they treat deaf people so badly ive read an article in a scholarly text sorry I can't remember which one it was. But i can track it if you want PM me if you like but i wont be able to do ths swiftly, im busy busy busy like mad at the moment.

OMG that is so not fair. I have no idea why any restraunt would do this. Just because we're deaf doesn't mean we can't go to a restraunt that allows deaf people. that sucks. You should do something about it. What restraunt did u go to? What state is your restraunt in. Because if I was you I'd be So pissed. I'm shocked. Seriously I am. My jaw is dropped open.

oh btw can people tell me whats the big deal about restraunts not serving deaf people? because I don't understand that but I want to understand. But if you have a restraunt called Cracker Barrel around your home state, its a better restraunt because they serve deaf people and hearing. But from my homestate i met alot of deaf people there.

how about writing to ADA as well !!
they'd be Pissed off too

Yeah i rather report to ADA too. I'm pissed off about this crap too..it has gotten so annoying. Trying to get our rights equalized..bunch of crap not having our rights to happen..but god. the restraunt not serving deaf people and the doctor?? thats over the line for me. I rather pull a prank at them and see how they like me now. Sue me!

Damn girl - when the shit flies, it flies!

I think you should definitely send the letter via certified mail to ensure he at least picked up and read it. Wait 1-2 weeks for a response. If there is a bad response or no response at all. Write a letter to the Editor of your local newspaper, surely this would be hot enough news they would print it.

Finally if the restaurant still shows its ignorance for the law, then contact the local broadcast media, TV, radio stations, etc.

If it is big enough news the AP wire will pick it up then it goes national. All you have to do is sign release forms for your story and name to be published. Then finally if necessary return to the restaurant again with a hidden camera on your clothing or in your bag. Make sure the audio is on so that everyword is picked up and it can be verified by third parties.

Then if the service is refused again, post on YouTube, and contact your local ADA, NAD, ACLU branch offices. They've got lawyers out the ass that specialize in this sort of thing.

Just had a doc tell me that they don't provide interpreters for people and that if patient is too hard to understand (because they are deaf and perhaps don't use speech--duh!), then doc is just going to discharge the patient.

I told them they are just asking for an ADA complaint.

I see this every day...honest to god...I just want to scream.

This is one of the reasons why it is hard for me to trust doctors in general.

Hmm..i wonder if we would get the president attention about this. I mean all people should have equal rights. Like Martin Luther King Jr. He wanted his people to be equal. But they had to go through stupid stuff like seperate bathrooms, etc. Maybe we should repeat Dr.Kings words to the people about this..idk..just suggesting.
