Washington, DC Schools Receive Internet Bomb Threat

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - Police searched all schools in Washington, D.C., on Friday after receiving a threat via the Internet that bombs had been placed in five schools.

"There was a general call that five schools have explosive devices in them," police spokesman Officer Quentin Peterson said by telephone. "The threat was received through an Internet relay service."

He said police were searching all schools in the U.S. capital, including private schools, because it was unclear which schools had been targeted.

An FBI (news - web sites) spokeswoman said there had been an Internet threat that bombs would go off at five schools at noon on Friday, but the schools and the area were not specified. She said the FBI was on standby and would assist if needed.

Who knows, it was probably done by someone at Gallaudet! :eek:

Even hearing people can use the relay themselves, tho.
 
*sitting and waiting for it to accually happen* i believe its a hoax but better than nothing to find the bomb.. however the person who did it is very Illegal and can face prision up to 50 years :shock: and/or $500,000 fine
 
yes Scuba -- more likely a hoax but good god -- closing down schools for the day does interrupt the kids' education!!! they need to be in school and have a safe enviroment too!!!! if the schools arent safe then the kids would be on constant guard worrying abt the next threat and if theyre for real or a hoax -- thats not fair to the kids!
 
:werd: fly i agree with ur comment, its not fair for the kids, AND for those dumbfucks to be using the IP relay its RIDCULOUS to do this and insane we need those for OUR use and if the malicaous use of the IP relay we will lose it cuz of one dumb fuck who can't respect OUR need for real communication Sweet louise! :madfawk:
 
Just afew years ago, an elementary school near my house was called with a bomb threat and just about a dozen of pipe bombs were found, but I'm not sure if they found the person (or persons) responsible for this...even the high school where my sister graudated, were called in for a bomb threat also, but the person got caught (some stupid teenage girl) called in at the school tellin' them it would explode if her demands weren't met or somethin but got caught on videocamera when she was callin in the payphone inside the school...lol what such stupidty...

dear...the WHOLE world is not safe...it's sad but true so we have to be careful at ALL times, no matter where you go.

Yeah, that way it wouldn't let the cops trace in the person's voice and hear who it REALLY is from
 
It might just be a scare/hoax to scare people and get people out of school.
 
:roll: some people wud do that to scare some people and what more it's not april's fool day but it's stupid I ever heard of.. i hope the person is caught and pay fines for scaring people for what? :(
