Tips for getting sleep/staying awake?

Brad, just need try ask to boss to change the schedule or cut hours at job to make enough to sleep or little spare time.

Being awake all day isn't good for you, I had done like that before in and it's so pain, just cause bad migraine after sent all day on computer and work overnight.
Same as my husband have a migraine. He is a sleeping apnea because he didn't get sleep enough. He is very stress out at second shift at work and school in the morning. He can't change the shift. His boss do favor for him to be in second shift. He wasn't happy about his shift. He did drink a Red Bull, Java Monster and mountain dews. It's help him to awake. If he don't drink next day. He will be headache when he get up. I tried to help him with diet health. He is so stubborn and eat a high carbs and not like to eat a fruits. Because his tongue is addict to sweet, carbs and stratch. That what I am worrying about his weight due to lack of exercise and not sleep enough. I really hate his second shift job. It's tough for him. It's mess up his sleep cycle.

He is looking forward to get a new job through his sister's friend is a boss. He will transfer to a new job in January after semester. He will be in first shift. YAYAYA! He will able go to class at evening. We will be spend time together and go gym often. YAYAYA! I can't wait. My husband suppose not stay up so late and out of energy. He need to sleep for 6 to 8 hours. He had been suffer with sleeping apnea since 2005 when he got a new job. It almost 4 years. It's time for him to transfer a new job in January. I am looking forward for him a new job. He will go back to eat a health and normal sleep cycle like me.

How about Melatonin to try to regulate your sleep cycles. I have used it at bedtime to combat insomnia and I think it really helps.
 
Dont you have someone supporting you? I would forget working and focus on college because college is far more important than jobs. In your situation, why dont you take several naps rather than risking "crash" after drinking energy drinks?
 
if i were you.. take a nap 2 to 3 hours then u wud feel refreshed.. but I never experienced working overnight but I never forgot my senior trip to disneyland overnight it left me sick and blah. I am not gonna say why.

a advice to dead money don't give out stupid advices but obviously you do meth yourself :P I had seen few friends high on meth but I never tried it myself I stick to drinking booze and smoking cigrattes :D that's good enough for me ;)

Take 30 minutes to 1 hour nap during day time or between your class breaks.

I don't have any other suggestion to stay awake all day as most of ADers in here have mentioned some.

In my experience, anything that will increase your heart rate. Problem is, the wake effect won't last long, so it must be done constantly - ie constant breaks, cold water, pinching your body, slapping yourself silly, running, heavy metal blasted, etc. It will require you to do stupid things, but thats the price you pay to force yourself awake.

I have a remedy for that.

I have had that kind of insomnia for many years, perhaps it's in my blood.

But nevertheless, I still get good amount of sleep.

The remedy is a bong hit and a pleasure before bedtime.

Study group, study parnter (a hot chick/girlfriend will do), or cocaine. Don't take coke.


Usually one would stay in the library or the computer lab, depends on the subject, and not leave until the library closes.

One in Humboldt State University doesn't close at all.... insane.

Suggesting a meth habit or something else isn't very productive. I just can't laugh at that and sarcasm does not come through well in words.
 
No Doz doesn't work a crap (at least for me). Take expresso shots coffee (warning - excessive urination, cramped abdominal discomfort, and constipation) but hey - if you gotta, then you gotta!

I envy my friend who is very sensitive to caffeine. So sensitive that even half of Red Bull was enough to keep her jittery and awake for a whole night. I had to down at least 2-3 cans of Red Bull to at least feel something. This sucks because it ain't cheap! :mad2:

Thanks god all-nighter and college life is OVER for me.

Believe it or not, expresso doesn't do that for me. Red Bull, without the word, "sh*t" is exactly that and tastes like it . . . no originality, no taste, no nothing except a high price.

I don't know if a cola by the name of Jolt is still being made, but it worked for me, if you want something like that. It used to be in a pop can, and, after searching the internet, apparently, it's still being made.
 
Eh I'm making a point to avoid getting too much caffeine each day. It makes me sleepy when I've had too much and I tend to drink black coffee, no milk or sugar.

Instead, I focus on staying well hydrated. Water and Gatorade (though the latter has too much sugar..so I've cut back) tend to be my go-to liquids. I have cut back on alcohol as well since that wouldn't do much for me. I'll save that for weekends.
 
I will be starting what I call my "nightmare schedule" today. I will have 3 courses this fall, spread out over Tues, Wed and Thurs. I work 3rd shift. When I get home in the morning, instead of usually sleeping, I will be required to stay awake for most if not all of the day.

Anyone have any advice on how to stay awake, besides the usual coffee/caffeinated drinks, eating energy foods, etc?

All I know is that it's going to be very difficult to balance this schedule. I'm looking at the possibility of taking small naps throughout the day, possibly right after class each day.

This isn't the first time I've done classes and full-time work. The last time I did it, I worked 1st shift and it seemed easier that way.

Don't you mind can I ask you? Do you go to class during in the morning or afternoon or evening? You have to drink several coffee not too much like a pop with carbonate. Do you like the third shift at work?
