Newborn tossed out from car window.

It's such a sad story. Now they are going to be charged for it. They should have drop the baby off at the hospital without getting charge. There is a law that if you drop the baby off at the hospital then leave and there won't be charge for that.

I see it like that all the times. It a sad thing to do.

There has to have been something wrong with this person....or maybe there's something wrong with society...are we not CLEAR on these laws? Maybe we're not advertising enough that babies can be dropped off at hospitals? :( How sad. I'm glad the baby is okay, though.

:mad2:

Oh No, again!!!!! but I'm glad that baby is alive!

The parents should give their baby up for an adoption. It wont hurt when they tell the hospitail that they dont want to take baby.

I was shock and speechless when I read that news, and decide to post it here in AD but looks like you beat me to it first! LOL...

I'm just really glad that the baby is ok, it sad to know one of the parent actually threw the newborn out in a busy street, it just sick period!!

I have no respect for whoever did it and I do not care what was the reason behind it, there's was no excuess for it :thumbd:

OMG! People like them who throws babies out, are really freggin sickos!

I don't think there's something wrong with society, it is about people. Some people are certifiably insane, some people aren't :(

I am VERY glad that baby is okay and everything...

that really pissed me off when people do that to the babies or animals!!! I'm glad the baby is ok. I can't believe people can be insane nowadays...

I think that's it, Malfy. It's all of the above. Society is screwed up, and therefore, certain individuals are defective enough to think it's okay to do things like this. Also, not enough is being done to educate people. Personally, I don't think the laws that say women can leave their babies in hospitals and firehouses is enough. More has to be done to prevent abandonment in other areas. We need better programs to help troubled women and things like this.

Like the rest of you, I think this is a tragic story. I agree, how could anyone hurt or try to kill such a sweet baby?

However, I would like to point out something:

"...The 8-pound, 2-ounce boy was only hours old when he was tossed from a car in Fort Lauderdale on Thursday, and still had his umbilical cord attached, authorities said."

Do you realize that if the mother had aborted that same baby just a few hours earlier some of you would be supporting her right to do it?

That is different situation but let's not bring that subject into this topic please? :/

I think that is the last thing that AD'ers want to discuss about right now.

Authorities say baby never tossed from car

This just in:

Sheriff: Woman who reported incident is boy's mother

Friday, February 11, 2005 Posted: 3:01 PM EST (2001 GMT)

FORT LAUDERDALE, Florida (CNN) -- A newborn baby reported tossed out of a moving car was never thrown from the vehicle, and the woman who reported seeing the incident is the boy's mother, Broward County Sheriff Ken Jenne said Friday.

The woman didn't want her family to know about the child, Jenne said.

Patricia Pokriats, 38, "made up an incredible story," Jenne said.

Jenne said the infant is healthy and doing well.

The Broward County Sheriff's Office said a woman told authorities she was driving Thursday afternoon in a residential area of northern Fort Lauderdale when she saw a man and woman arguing in a car.

A bundle flew out the window as the car slowed and landed on grass by the road, the woman reportedly told authorities.

She reportedly told them she found a baby boy with a plastic bag over his head.

The baby was flown via helicopter to Broward Medical Center.

Nurses nicknamed the boy "Johny" after his attending physician, Johny Tryzmel.

Authorities said they received calls from people wanting to adopt him or offering money for college.

The 8-pound, 2-ounce boy was only hours old and still had his umbilical cord attached, authorities said.

Florida has a safe haven law under which a parent or relative can turn a newborn over to authorities with no questions asked during the first three days of his or her life.

Why then didn't the mother turn the baby over to the authorities in the first place? : p
