It was just a matter of a few days ago being down in St. Louis for the AD Caucus and now this happens--hope all members of AD that lives in the area are well and ok.

Here's the news story:

http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/13954663

Tells how 500,000 homes have been affected by a powerful storm and the city is battling a heat wave at the same time.

That's very common for any cities to have the blackouts. Not only st louis alone. We all can survived in any minutes with our wisdom. There is no big deal to parnoid about it as long u have the back up supplies or thr generation to hook up.. Wish the st louisians to be safe to live in. I believe they will be fine better than the hurricane hit this city. Me!

No wonder I saw it on the news today.. I saw the Casino sign from the Riverboat hanging upside down and I was thinking.. " I just saw that from somewhere" Now I know where that came from.. St. Loius... weird.. I hate to see that to happen. Hope everything will be back to normal before long.

yes i know i saw that on the internet news i was go damn that is LOT

right now my area in southeast michigan are restoring the power after thunderstorm earlier this week

I wondered how the people in New Orleans are doing, I think they
should have air conditioning and power on..

Anyhow God bless St. Louis and the people there.

Yeah, it is sad isn't it ? It happens everywhere -- not just St. Louis.

This is to let you all know that MizzDeaf and I are okay ~ more information will be forthcoming as soon as I arrive at work today and get settled down at my desk and computers.

Just a quick post at this time.

We arrived home late last night - we had been in Sioux Falls, South Dakota for the MAAD softball tournament all weeekend.

The storm did hit us on our way out of town Wednesday evening - but we didn't know how severe it had been until we were in Iowa Thursday afternoon... our parents sent us emails telling us what had happened that day.

We got through lucky - only the front glass storm door was damaged - apparently it blew loose and was slammed against the house over and over until the glass shattered. MizzDeaf's parents came over and took the door off, cleaned up the glass and checked the house.

My parents were over every day, taking care of the cats and letting me know of the electrical situation - our electricity was off along with the rest of the north county area.

Yes, the food in the refrigerator and freezer spoiled - however, my parents cleaned it out yesterday morning and took it all home with them, as their trash pick up was today. Ours wouldn't happen until Friday, and by then, it would be totally ripe and flies would be doing cartwheels over the trash can.

We have quite a bit of work to do at home - laundry, some clean-up, replacement of the glass door and little things like that, but we are very much thankful that everything weathered the storm well.

Yes, our electricity is back on - apparently it came back on just before we got home. Yah!!! The house finally cooled off overnight, and the fridge was back to its cold self when I left for work this morning.

Thank goodness for small favors.

Good to hear, I'm glad you two are alright :grouphug:

Poor Missy, I know how you must felt, I've been there before, and that was the day I went food shopping and the power went out for at least 48 hours, I had to purchase a lot of coolers to keep the foods cold, It was pain in the butt. :giggle:

DD and MD, Glad you guys are okay! are you still without power or got your power back on?
