Jeep gone

Glad you are ok. I had a very HUGE traffic related fright last evening. Me and my roommate were nearly killed by a semi that couldn't stop in time.

Right as I thought I was going to die ... I screamed like a little girl. I am glad my roommate is profoundly deaf.

I looked like this guy:

Well, scream or no scream, I'm glad you escaped disaster. :)

Reba, Be happy you are okay and no hurt.

Just close the door and the welding on it then you are good to go. Use passenger door to exit/enter. :)
Can't close the two doors; they don't even hang straight, and the frame is bent in.

Would be better to remove them all and make it a real Jeep.

There ya go, that's the spirit!

Someone above mentioned rollover accidents. Way back in the '70's, my brother was driving his VW Beetle (the original, not the more modern, much improved, version) a bit too fast in early spring on a curvy back road he didn't know all that well, up in upper Michigan. Hit a patch of ice, caught a tire, rolled over once, twice, three times, rolling down a hill. Came to rest on the wheels, amazingly enough.

Re-started the car after a few minutes, when the adrenalin rush had calmed down a tad. But he must have been knocked out for a bit and lost his sense of direction, because when he got back onto the road he drove the wrong way for a couple miles before he realized "Hey, I've seen this section of road before...."

When he looked at the car in daylight the next morning, he saw that one side (the passenger side, I think) was completely mangled and smashed flat. But the driver's side barely had a scratch on it. Looked like two different cars almost.

Somehow he was able to drive the thing home, but the insurance company called it a total loss.

Sorry to heard abt that. I saw the pics and feel like, OMG. Glad you are ok. I dont think the other Jeep can replace your exact Cherokee.

Oh wow, this thread got my attention after look around in auto section.

I'm very sorry about you lost the jeep because of accident and glad that you are ok. I had major car accident in 2005 and entire of front was totally wrecked so it was totaled. The man at auto repair was surprised I was not in major injury or fatal but just bad bruises.

I hope that you can find different car eventually when you could afford.

It all depends on how much money I get from the insurance.

Right now, I don't even want to drive to work this morning. I admit, I'm nervous about driving the road again. I feel like I'm a target to other drivers.

wow, just saw this thread- glad you are ok. car accidents is never fun.
I should know. My van has been rear ended 3 times, all with me waiting at the red light. it was always their fault. It really pissed me off wondering if there is a bullseye painted in the back but never saw one! :giggle:

I know how you feel.

Once, on the way home from the college, I was rear ended at a red light. The other driver told the cop, "I didn't know she'd stop." Hello! I always stop for red lights, duh!

Recently, the guy behind me didn't want to wait for me to merge with traffic (I was in a YIELD lane) so he rammed me from behind to get around. When I got out to check the damage, he almost ran over me as he drove away (hit and run).

Another hit and run I experienced was when I drove thru a green light at an intersection. The guy who had the red light decided to not wait for the light to change and made a left turn in front of me. Crash! He kept on going.

All of my accidents (there were more, none my fault) happened between my house and the college where I work. I hate driving that route.

Time for you to slap IRS and use your tax money to buy different car.

Yup, I had similar situation after major accident in 2005 and took 3 days for me to start driving so very carefully, eventually I became experience with driving and drive like normal now.

Do you mean the money that I owe the IRS? I don't think they'd appreciate that.

I found out that I will get at a little over $3,900 for my Jeep.

We're stripping everything off the old one that's allowed, and siphoning the gas. We can't take the tires though.

I drove today but I didn't like it. My stomach hurt all day.

Yup, I wish that you are going slap IRS and use your tax money to buy different car and it is just joking.

Oh really, sounds not bad and you could find used cars in this price range.

Auto repair isn't cheap at all, one of my Saturn car got totaled after repair quoted at over $15,000, that too way above the car value so insurance totaled it. One of my Honda Accords had minor accident in 2008 but just minor but repair cost for minor rear crash was around $4,500, including labor and painting but our insurance paid all but had to pay deductible.

Ouch, tummy pain isn't fun at all and I had like that before because of buckle pulled so too hard when hit to other car.

Yeah my 2000 Honda had front end damage with $4,400 in repairs and insurance paid for it. My ex girlfriend rear ended someone in heavy rain, the roads was slick and was driving a little too fast, tsk tsk.

I think my tummy is upset from nerves. :(

When the insurance adjuster looked at my Jeep today, he said he found that the damage was even worse than the pictures showed. He found more damage in the roof, the dash, and underside. The frame was toast.

$3,900 is better than the book value of $800+

Lots better. Maybe you can find another Jeep of the same year and fix it up.

And on your stomach pain, it could be from the seatbelt. I still have problems with a shoulder injured when we were in a crash 10 years ago.

I'm sorry you're having tummy pains over this, Reba....and about driving....

Yes, the adjuster was fair. I think the relatively low mileage helped, too.

He said the tires added $1,000 by themselves.

The rest of the Jeep is in excellent condition, so I think they expect to get back some of their money by parting it out.

He said we can't take off the fog lights or window visors, even though they were added on by us.
