Thanks, everybody. :aw: I’m not discouraged—we’ll keep trying ‘til it happens, and if it doesn’t happen there’s always ebay. But I feel confident now. Mayflower and I are going to spend all Summer getting into shape. We’re going to start eating right, and losing weight and getting more exercise. Next time we’re going to be ready. :thumb:

I'm sorry about miscarriage. But am glad you are going to get prepped all summer getting into shape, eating right and losing weight. You will both feel much better and be looking forward to the future new addition to your family. That's great!

Right—being overweight is a BIG risk factor for miscarriage, especially in older women. So that’s one of the things that we need to take care of if we hope to get going with this. We’re both going to get our act together this Summer. Mayflower needs to lose about 50 pounds, and I need to lose about 30. So I’m going to start doing all the cooking and meal planning. No more eating out, and no more junk food or alcohol—I’m going to make sure that we eat the perfect diet until Mayflower gets pregnant and stays pregnant. Despite our ages, I’m convinced we can pull this off.

That's the spirit! I have faith that you and Mayflower will make it through, knowing how determined you and your wonderful wife are. Maybe you and Mayflower can stick to healthy eatings for the rest of your lives, not just until Mayflower is preg and stays preg. That way, you both will continue to be healthy and strong when your child grows up. smiling!! I'm 44 years old, my husband is 40 years old. We have five children, ages 21 to 4, so my husband and I eat healthy food most of time because we want to live healthy for long time to enjoy our children and future grandkids. :D

Indeed! That's the best way to get what you guys want. Keep it up!

Edit: btw, Lev, actually I am thinking of creating a topic in Health forum about Pottenger experiment which is very famous and well-known but with that situation you guys are going though... I'm afraid that topic may offend some people around here and I decided to not create that topic. Anyway, I am happy to hear that you guys are not going to give up!

FYI.. DIETS DO NOT WORK!!! just eat healthy!!! and every 2 hours (5-7 meals a day) smaller portions... more fruits, veggies, less carbs and sweets 2x a week (i already explained this in the diet thread somewhere>>> if you want.. ill be more than happy to find it for ya) .. and u will do just great!!! thats how i lost 50lbs!!! (so far... i am not done! and people say i look great! I FEEL GREAT AND HAVE SO MUCH ENERGY... that i could scream and jump off of a cliff and fly!!!)

my dr is AGAINST DIETS... now i know why.. cuz it is NOT HEALTHY AND DOESN'T WORK.. that is why it is YO YO for many people INCLUDING ME (i was on a yo yo since '91! :ugh: ) .... go figure!!! SO TRY IT!! ;) YOU GUYS CAN STILL GO OUT... BUT EAT HEALTY.. THAT IS ALL!!! I GO OUT A LOT and don't have a problem!

HAVE FUN AND FAITH!!!

sorry for offtopic

FeistyChick, 'diet' is a general term. If I am consuming the junk foods and fast foods which totals up to 50,000 calories, I still can call it "diet".

I know what you mean or what you were referring to :P I just implied that 'diet' have its different meaning.

But you are right that diet itself often to be known as 'yo-yo' in many cases.

That’s what I meant. Every living organism on this planet is on a diet. When I said that I was going to put my wife and myself on a ‘diet’ I meant that we are going to follow a balanced and nutritious way of eating centered around whole grains, fresh vegetables, LEAN meats, fresh fruits, NONFAT dairy products, etc. We’re too old to be scarfing down a one pound rib eye and a baked potato with gobs of butter and sour cream, followed by a huge bowl of ice cream and a six pack of beer. Those days are history. From now on we’re going to start taking responsibility for our health.

That's a good start. I don't trust diet pills my friends went on diet with pills and they end up with health issue conflicts. I avoid the diet pills and go on a diet in a different way just like you. Watch what I eat and no fast-food too fattie for me LOL.

Sorry about your loss, Levonian, but I'm glad to know you're handling it better than I thought. You're very optimistic and that's good. Good luck! :thumb:

Levonian, sorry to hear about your loss. Hope things work out for you both. Keep faith and eat healthy!!
