if you think your petrol(gas) is expensive

Good question. It's not a turbo.

All I know is that I saw it, I looked good in it and I bought it! :giggle:

Ohhh, are you sure it can run on regular unleaded? It would be a waste of money using 91 octane in a car that is designed with 87 octane or higher.

Nice car though. :)

My friend has a 2001 VW Passat with over 130,000 miles on it and still runs strong. He lives in Seattle also.

Sorry for the off topic. :D

Well...don't come crying on here when you have to pay over $ 4.00 a gallon like I am now.

It's $ 4.05 here.

pity, I once saw tv show - Slider in other world where gas charge $104.50/gal and everybody are use bike. Few motorcycle and vehicle. It was pleasant

Why don't they (scientists) keep creating a car that runs through by air?

Lol, that's a lot of money there.

I would have to agree with you there. I think compressed air powered cars is one of the greatest innovation. One of the drawback is you need energy to store compressed air by a electric motor or a diesel engine.

no, I want scientists to create something like concept from Back to the Future, by use our waste body as fuel. you know, pee and poo poo :) so nasty but awesome to keep thing clean for us. Hello potty in vehicle.

Does diesel use crude oil? Just wonders...

It will take some while for alternative fuel to become common in anywhere, probably next 10 years or so.

Let's worry about Global Warming. High priced gasoline makes people to buy 50-60 MPG cars, and for trucks, they better start making Hybrid Trucks, we should use electric or maglev train to transport. It is time for us to start new and better technology to prevent Global Warming to get worsening by relying on the gasolines.
You can blame global warming on Mr. Sun instead of burdening truckers and service providers with extra expenses.

I demand more price on gas, force better technology push on advance vehicle without need fuel. Make great green than ever.
Then the price of heating, food, and all the goods that you buy will increase. If it costs more to ship them, it will cost more to buy them. Also, expect more small businesses owners to go bankrupt.

Thanks a lot. :(

I agree, Reba. Global warming contributed to BY HUMANS ONLY is very, very small. Global warming, from what I've read is a natural phenomenon that's been going on from time immemorial.....it does not hurt for us to do our part but this hue and cry over this as if it is caused by humans only is ludicrous.

yes, Slider did mention that food cost more. And there is alternative we get cheap food - it look gross but taste great :) And almost every resident grow their own food and rats. So awesome and fun to being like farm.

University and college colleagues in the true sciences (not political "sciences" and theater arts) agree with you. Just one of the reasons they're not more vocal on the issue is it never hurts to conserve resources. Another reason for silent contemplation is most of their liberal friends are on witch hunts.

However, they almost all observe how most advocates of the-sky-is-falling global warming are either out to make a buck or being gulled by celebrities.

Yup, you said it, Chasie!

Tips on pumping gas

For what it's worth department:

TIPS ON PUMPING GAS

I don't know what you guys are paying for gasoline.... but here in California we are also paying higher, up to $3.50 per gallon. But my line of work is in petroleum for about 31 years now, so here are some tricks to get more of your money's worth for every gallon.

Here at the Kinder Morgan Pipeline where I work in San Jose, CA, we deliver about 4 million gallons in a 24-hour period thru the pipeline. One day is diesel the next day is jet fuel, and gasoline, regular and premium grades. We have 34-storage tanks here with a total capacity of 16,800,000 gallons.

Only buy or fill up your car or truck in the early morning when the ground temperature is still cold. Remember that all service stations have their storage tanks buried below ground. The colder the ground the more dense the gasoline, when it gets warmer gasoline expands, so buying in the afternoon or in the evening . . . your gallon is not exactly a gallon. In the petroleum business, the specific gravity and the temperature of the gasoline, diesel and jet fuel, ethanol and other petroleum products plays an important role.

A one-degree rise in temperature is a big deal for this business. But the service stations do not have temperature compensation at the pumps.

When you're filling up do not squeeze the trigger of the nozzle to a fast mode. If you look you will see that the trigger has three (3) stages: low, middle, and high. In slow mode you should be pumping on low speed, thereby minimizing the vapors that are created while you are pumping. All hoses at the pump have a vapor return. If you are pumping on the fast rate, some other liquid that goes to your tank becomes vapor. Those vapors are being sucked up and back into the underground storage tank so you're getting less worth for your money.

One of the most important tips is to fill up when your gas tank is HALF FULL or HALF EMPTY. The reason for this is, the more gas you have in your tank the less air occupying its empty space. Gasoline evaporates faster than you can imagine. Gasoline storage tanks have an internal floating roof. This roof serves as zero clearance between the gas and the atmosphere, so it minimizes the evaporation. Unlike service stations, here where I work, every truck that we load is temperature compensated so that every gallon is actually the exact amount. Another reminder, if there is a gasoline truck pumping into the storage tanks when you stop to buy gas, DO NOT fill up--most likely the gasoline is being stirred up as the gas is being delivered, and you might pick up some of the dirt that normally settles on the bottom. Hope this will help you get the most value for your money.

Snopes says it may be true but the economical benefits are moot. Still . . .

I guess that covers the optimists and the pessimists. :giggle:

I did put regular unleaded in my car a couple of times and noticed that the car didn't perform to the best of its ability. So....I always opt for the better gasoline.
