ME, of course, Since I am the single greatest human
being in the history of mankind these is no reason for
me to ever thank anyone else for anything.
Ok, with that thought out of the way I will tell you a
little history of me and the deaf forums whether you
want to hear it or not. 7 years ago I bought my
first computer. My oldest daughter was 16 and the
twins were 8.
One of the twins is deaf and seeing how I knew next
to nothing about deafness I thought I would use
the computer as a teaching tool. First thing I
remember finding was the deaf chat rooms on AOL.
Oh man, those were a riot at first but then they got
old real quick.
After that I found my first deaf forum, It was the only
deaf forum at the time. I loved it and spent way too
much of my time posting in it. The first person
I remember chatting with was Eve and next was Dixie
and Nettie. What a hilarious bunch. Then the
downfall came, arguing between the oralists and
the signers got so bad that a new deaf forum was
created and most of the people I enjoyed talking to left
to join it.
I stuck with the old forum for awhile but in the end
I moved too. The new forum was great; the owner was
a nice guy and posted right along with everyone
else. There was a few bad apples thou and after a while
it got on my nerves. About this time I found
alldeaf. Kevbo was posting about alldeaf everywhere
he could think of and I think that is how I found it.
I joined alldeaf in November of 2001; alldeaf had
just opened the previous April I believe. {I am
sure someone will be more that happy to let me know
if these dates are wrong}
WOW, I couldn’t believe the stuff that was being posted.
I think the average age of members at this time was
about 20. I got a warning the first week I was there {haha}.
Some of the stuff that was posted in
Penisarium would make a centerfold blush. This was
the perfect forum for me, even thou I was the
oldest member at the time. I could cuss as much as
I wanted {this comes natural for me} without
worrying about being banned.
What I really used the forum for was to read what
was being posted by young deaf kids. This opened
my eyes quite a bit and it helped me understand some
of the things that my own daughter would go thru in
the future. Like any deaf forum alldeaf was not without
its problems. Racism was getting out of hand,
some members showed no respect for the mods, and
if you happened to be gay you were not treated very
well.
It got to the point where a stand was finally taken and
a number of members left for a new forum. I miss a lot
of those members but I personally have no tolerance
for racism and enjoyed seeing alldeaf become a
place where people of different backgrounds or
sexual orientation could come post without being
hassled.
I enjoy going to the other forum once in awhile, there
is many good people over there but to me alldeaf is
home. The average age now is probably the mid 30’s
and alldeaf is still not without problems {all forums
have problems and from time to time I will take some
time off} but overall it’s a great place to post and for
the most part people respect one another.
One of the things I enjoy doing is going back and
reading old threads. If you ever get bored I highly
suggest doing this. It never fails to bring a smile to
my face. I know there are some that take my sense
of humor the wrong way, I stopped worrying about it
and just try to be myself. I don’t take post totals
seriously if fact there is more then a few members
that asked and had there post totals reset to zero
when post whoring was a problem awhile back.
All in all alldeaf has been a wonderful experience for
me. The forum I was at before I joined alldeaf was
closed by the owner because he got tired of all
the bickering. I hope that’s something we never have
to experience here and with that thought I give a
special thanks to Alex for the time and effort
put into this forum.

David, you've actually made the very best and original self-post/thread dedication IMHO. One does wonder how a man who constantly battles with the CCFs for world dominion still manages to do one-upmanship! Keep posting your poetry, David. You've said a lot in your thread which was true and I know those who have been around in the messageboards will agree with me.
of bbnt and
did he really? I can image your reaction. Did you thought "Who's this guy?"

you for make me laugh on my bad day...

Hey don't forget about me and Bo stories.
