How Honest are you?

what if you honest people are stuck in the middle of nowhere on route 66
and your car stopped. Then you walked a mile away to go to the near gas station and found a wallet with $200 in it...
And if the tow trucker said he will charge you for fixing your car for $200,
would you use that money you found or no????

I would probably use that $200 and give it to the tow trucker..
and maybe pay back the $200 to the person who lost his or her wallet.

Would you???? :dunno:
Route 66?! Wow, that brings back memories, ha, ha.

Anyway, you're driving that route without cash or a charge card?

If you actually pay the money back immediately when you get home, then that would be OK. I'm kind of troubled that you said, "maybe" you would pay it back. If you don't intend on paying the money back the very minute that you touch that money, then that is wrong.

I do Feel Guilty :( But i just cant help it

You could have avoided the guilt by simply returning the money. What kind of an excuse is, "i just cant help it"? You returned the wallet, you certainly could have returned the money.

I worked in a dry cleaners for 3 years, and I found so much cash it was sickening. Some of my less honest co-workers would pocket it, but I always returned it. I found $300 in a guy's shirt pocket one time and called him up to let him know. He was so impressed with my honesty that he gave me $20 as thanks. Nothing compared to $300, but I felt good knowing I'd done the right thing.

If you feel guilty about it, then confess it to the priest.

Sounds like something Ravensteve would have done.

Listen Buck, Make sure I never catch you near my purse.

If I were you, I would have took that wallet with 200.00 cash to the nearest police department.

‘Buck’ and Ravensteve are almost undoubtedly one and the same.

I don’t even trust my local PD. I would contact the owner of the wallet directly.

If i did that then these secret service men will say...
Where did you get the idea that those are Secret Service agents? Those are the two efficiency goons from the movie Office Space.

If I find a wallet with $200 then I will take it. But then print up fake bills worth $200 and find the owner and give it all back. ;)

For which, you'd be placed behind bars for counterfeiting, WTG!

Some people cant help it,,I found someones wallet dropped at the gas station and it had over $200 in it.I took the $200 out paid for the gas dropped in the nearest mail box.I just cant help it its bonus money to me! Someone from texas drove all the way to florida.Name on License is Jonathan Weston Bush. I wonder hes related to the President?

Tsk Tsk Tsk...What comes around goes around!!

I don't do that!! I am type of person who would go home and search for person's phone number and call them. Tell them they lost their credit card or wallet or whatever. I give it to them. I get *reward* from God and *reward* for having a good reputation! ;)

OR

I will go to the police and have the police to take care of it! ;)

One time, I was walking across the street to the 711 store...I saw a credit card on the ground so I called the lady and she came by at my place. She was stunned that I gave it to her because usually people steals!

I don't understand why people would be SO *cruel* to steal instead of respect/return people's money or things...

I'll keep that in mind if in case you are going to AD Caucus in 2008, I will CERTAINLY keep my eyes on you! I can't trust you now since you admitted of who you are! ;)

It happen recently, a bit different... few month ago i was showing an deaf student how to use auto teller machine to get the money out... this deaf student used own card etc... couldnt put in her card... I looked on the screen and see someone left their bank card in it... so for sure it would be easy someone took money out of the ATM...

So what i did... I cancelled the bank thingy... and took out the card... I didn't check out any $$$ in it as it none of my business... I took the bank card to the nearest store which it was an cafe... and explained to them that someone left their bankcard in the ATM so if someone turns up and asked about their bankcard etc.

Im glad you did the right thing..however, I usually dont trust the workers from any stores..I would give it to the police instead...

If I found a credit card on the ground somewhere I would pick it up and look at the back of the card, there should be a 1 800 number on the back, you could call that number and report that card lost and also possibly call information and see if I could find the owner of that card as well.

I found a lady's purse in the shopping cart in the Walmart parking lot. I turned it in at the store desk.

Hubby and I pulled up to an ATM that still had someone's card in it, and the account was still open (they hadn't logged out). We drove up to the people who had just left, and told them about their card.

It's just normal to not keep things that don't belong to you.
