Do you want the dirty emoticons removed?

Alex said that he'd remove them if many people did not like the dirty emoticons.

I find AllDeaf to be a pleasant place to chat and would like to continue to be here, but I am not very happy with the dirty emoticons. I would wish that they either be removed or have an option to shut them off. The reason is because I have no way to avoid seeing them when they are next to posts or I want to look for more emoticons using the "more" link. Most people don't seem to use them...perhaps they should be left for the Penisarium forum?

I think there should be something to work out because the rest is fine, but the emoticons are unpleasant for me to see daily.

What do you guys think? Should they be removed? Let's not bash, just say what you think.

I've unlocked this thread and started over.

Keep all comments to a minimum without referring to another member or quoting another member. I do not want to you replying back to another member or using another member's name. Keep the comments as if you were talking about yourself. Thanks.

The dirty emoticons are also not HARM. It cheer me up & also good for my healthy :D I like fun sometimes :fly:

Vampy, please don't remove ALL of emoticions. I love those cute emoticons.

Honestly, I didn't see dirty emoticons around here very much. I can't see any reason why we should remove "dirty" emoticons. The main WORST is sexual abuse/porn abuse etc.
 
I vote "No" Sorry.. I'll tell u why? because if we remove all the dirty ones we would not have that much smiling emotions left. It would be too dull. :D
 
We deleted :mynigga: last January. I knew this was gonna happen. If we are going to keep deleting one-by-one, we might as well delete the whole thing. I see nothing pornographic about them. You see your baby banging two tennis balls together, are you going to stop him/her because he/she is mimicking two smilies having sex?
 
I've never really used the dirty emoticons anyways, and didn't like them in here the first place but I kept it to myself since others enjoy it and it is fun to watch them tease one other.....

So, I voted ' No '....simply because, there will be no more laugh or fun teasing one other in here if those emoticons were to be removed....
 
Is there a way to leave the emoticons on the advanced reply menu but not visible unless selected? Or leave just the "clean" emoticons menu visible, and let posters select the "adult" menu as "more" emoticons list? It is kind of distracting to have the emoticons dancing around while trying to compose a reply. That is why I prefer the "Quick Reply" option.

I totally agree!! i never use them as i see it as pretty nasty porn stuff to me.
I just ignore it and i dont have to use them..
I realize some people like them and use them but its pretty rare that i see anybody use these....
just my 2 cents worth.....
 
How do they "promote pornography?"
It seems to me that they are just a reflection and acknowledgement of our sexuality.
The stampede to censor anything you disagree with promotes fascism, does it not?
I am very proud of this forum since it's got balls.
 
I think that if you want pornography...go to a porn site or porn smily sites. The thing is that we should be mature adults and realize that pornographic implied objects can be offensive to some population. It has nothing to do with closed-mindedness. I was raised better than that. I just happen to know the difference between offense and open-minded subjects. Why do we need to push the envelope?

Example: the sexual site-Penisarium. I rarely go there because I know that's not the subject that I like. I like the option that I can either click or not click to view their posts.

Why should it be different with the emoticons which is so public? You have no choice but to see them to either use some other emoticons or they are next to the "post reply." I agree with Reba, if you want to keep them, then at least have an option for us to remove them.

It's a quiet touchy topic, but I must bring it up if I find it quiet weird for a deaf forum. If one were too open-minded, you'd have no brain cells left, so I decline to give in just for others to enjoy it yet be open public for the rest to see in front of their eyes.

Call me old-fashioned, but being that still is valuable to this day.

if you don't like it then leave it alone.. simple ignore it. Isn't hurt you anyway.

I've seen rest other Deaf Forums and has dirty smiley too.. I do not complain anyway. (chuckles)

These porn smiles don't bother me at all. Depending on what people plan to post about something that related with the sex things. These smiles do fit.

If there are other cool smiles even better then there can always replacement withthe smiles. since The smile box have limit numbers of the smiles. That's all i can say.

Sex makes some people uncomfortable. Rainbow is about GLBT. GLBT makes some people uncomfortable. We should get more strict and start removing posts that people find offensive.

I think we should not have to worry about icons thier just *art* to me and its for our pleasure, and we don't have to use it if we don't want to, i rarely use any of the icons and what i don't use its what i don't need. Depends on others :)
 
yes and no...I wud appreciate if pornography emoticon is removed because it can expose to young deaf or hard of hearing kids...including obesnity too...

No, because as I stated, you have the choice to click or not. It's clear from the outside that it's a gay or sex topic, so I have a choice to go in or not which I very rarely do.

The emoticons have no options. I like to use some of them, but if they are not on the sides, then I must open them up to see them all load in front of me without an option to turn them off. It doesn't get more complicated than that to explain.

I am only talking about the pornographic sexual stimulating smilies. Those are the ones I do not believe that should be seen. As for the other dirty ones...I wouldn't mind that because it's used by those who want to spite someone. If that's what Alex wants, then permit it and keep moderating stricter, but I believe that pornography is quiet different from the negative smilies.

It's not close-mindedness. It's simply offensive. That's all.
