I find AllDeaf to be a pleasant place to chat and would like to continue to be here, but I am not very happy with the dirty emoticons. I would wish that they either be removed or have an option to shut them off. The reason is because I have no way to avoid seeing them when they are next to posts or I want to look for more emoticons using the "more" link. Most people don't seem to use them...perhaps they should be left for the Penisarium forum?

I think there should be something to work out because the rest is fine, but the emoticons are unpleasant for me to see daily.

What do you guys think? Should they be removed? Let's not bash, just say what you think.

Personally, I do find some of the emoticons offensive, and I would rather they not be here. However, I voted no to having them removed, because, to do so would be censorship. I do not believe in infringing on someone's freedom of expression. For this reason, I think they should not be removed.

It might be a good idea to toggle them, maybe? I don't know if that is possible. Or, perhaps, make them available for only the adult oriented forums as has been previously suggested?

I voted No because I view those smiley icons as harmless. They're just animated pictures, nothing further.

We deleted :mynigga: last January. I knew this was gonna happen. If we are going to keep deleting one-by-one, we might as well delete the whole thing. I see nothing pornographic about them. You see your baby banging two tennis balls together, are you going to stop him/her because he/she is mimicking two smilies having sex?

I am the one who advocated getting rid of the :mynigga: icon. We had a poll and the majority of members wanted it gone.


According to this poll the majority of members {including me} want to keep the sex icons.In both cases majority rules and you have to accept what the majority wants.

I would suggest for those of you who are simply to offended to look at those icons you might try setting up your own Christian deaf forum of you may ask Alex to set aside a small section as a family area where these icons would not be allowed to be used

HGK just so i am clear yes means u want this removed and NO means u don't want it removed am i correct in this ? if thats the case then i already made my vote, if its the other way around then that should be more clearer in the poll saying NO i do not want these removed and YES I want them removed or NO i do not want this sexual offense in the forum and yes i do want to keep it in the forum. thats a suggestion to be clear because the majority voted no not to remove them. are we clear now?

Didn’t Alex once announce in a thread that he was considering a website for the deaf that would contain only pornographic contents? I believe he also said he had the domain registered and would let AllDeaf members know when it is open.

I said "yes" because some of dirty emoticons are sort of stupid. Maybe it is just me but I have a very limited choices in finding a right emoticons because more than half is sex-related. Wow, SEX emoticons. It is better to talk about sex than just pasting an emoticon, imho. [shrugging] I am not all against to get them *all* off but at least keep those emoticons that have good tastes and humor.

Why don't a moderator run a tally score to see which dirty emoticons are used frequently and remove those that are used infrequently?

This way everybody is happy, with some compromise.

I think they should be at least removed from the Reply section, so that young children don't stumble across it and parents might find this extremely offensive. I voted yes because I'd like them at least removed from the reply view, as I don't want to be looking at offensive images while trying to post. It IS extremely distracting. If other people do, then they should be able to click on a list showing all the emoticons.

If it is a freedom of speech message board, then can a lady here post her nude pics? Is that okay because it's her Freedom of Speech to use her Code of Conduct as she pleases? I am trying to set a point. There's always a line drawn when it comes to anything. They are drawn smilies, but it's clear what they are implying--that's very much what human beings do.

I would rather have them be turned on or off if the board intends to keep them because there's a always a line drawn when it comes to Freedom of Speech and Code of Conduct. That's the reason we have porn sites separately and Playboy magazines separately and not in front of the cash register at the grocery store. Yet other people can have them, but they have to be kept somewhere where kids and people don't want to see them.

To be honest here, that has nothing to do with the dirty emoticons , it all about posting dirty pictures, words etc in other threads which it should have kept in the ' Penisarium forum ', that is the reason why I created that thread in the first place...
