When they say ''The bad news is the limitations on funding. Until we find candidate molecules for use in humans, this research will not be adopted by pharmaceutical companies.
This is good for california take up on this project cause the people are being taxed to death over there so they take hollywoods money and give it to stem cell reseach.

Wow, interesting information.

I hope it cure deaf people to hear again like what they did their success to cure blind people to see again.

Okay, most people state that there aren't enough funds, but until we stop complaining and start giving funds from our own pockets, nothing will be started. I would rather give my funds to hearing loss research than charity like Cancer because they already get so many funds, and many times there are cures for them, but doctors usually want to keep you sick because of big pharmaceutical companies are really powerful. We have more people with health problems today because of what we eat, environmental issues, etc. Read this book, NATURAL CURES "THEY" DON'T WANT YOU TO KNOW ABOUT". Now that I know one company, I can start supporting them. Hope others with this interest could start supporting as well, otherwise it'll be slow.

I think if people started to give their funds to a cause that's related to them or their family, then we might evenly give out funds. Cancer gets so many every year from St. Jude's Hospitall, YoPlait--sending the pink lids for Breast Cancer. There's an announcement on the radio that I hear about Cancer funding. There's so many that they get that other disorders are overlooked if you know what I mean.

I beg to differ.

Cancer is rapidly growing so fast that its affected every single family household in America.

There is never enough money for Cancer research. Cancer KILLS people whereas Deafness does not kill anyone. Therefore, it is understandable why more people would be more concerned about donating money to Cancer Research to save lives.

I ve worked in cancer fields for many years and have been exposed to cancer from a personal perspective too. Last week, my stepdad was diagnosed with Prostate Cancer. It is very frightening.

There is never enough money for Cancer Research. I worked for Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation for three years and the pink lids as you call them or whatnot does not bring enough money. I was not paid well and struggled to keep the program afloat. But it was very rewarding.

Cancer Research is not only about researching for the cure but also establishing Public Awareness programs. It is very costly.

I think cure cancer is far more important than cure deafness.... It is in top 5 for numbers of deaths. I don't think that deafness itself ever cause any deaths... However I agree with you that how we eat, environmental problems, etc does put a huge influence on our health. But the problem is that people didn't listen so therefore we always have the health problems in USA.

as usual, your comment is.... you know what I am going to say. Thank god for Tax Act 2005. I cannot wait for that one.

Magatsu No so because of former governor gray davis. California state goverment will not overturn any tax struture because democrats there will veto any ideas governor arnold has in mind. In order to pass a tax cut in california it has to go though the california general assembly, and gengeral assembly are 70% democrats in there and you know what theyre gonna say. Same problem in maryland Governor Robert erlich is republican he wants to cut taxes in maryland but the maryland general assembly is 65% democrats and they wont even think about tax cuts. But they have passed new tax hikes in maryland but governor erlich has veto them. So im glad people of california voted for stem cell research and their tax dollars is going get it started.

You don't really get it... We, Californians (well most of them) don't mind to pay the high tax at ALL. Unlikely you, we want to help unfortunate people and elders. Tax Act 2005 will change everything. With Tax Act 2005, blue states will support other blue states only while red states support other red states only. As you already aware that blue states pay lot of taxes while red states spend lot of money... we are hard workers and care for people, that's different between you and me.

if you want to complain about reckless spending, by all means, blame on republicans or Bush. Who started the war? War is the most expensive money-spending on this earth. You know, Prime Minister in Sweden is right... conservatives tend to point their fingers at others but themselves. As you may know that Sweden is strongly liberal-socialist country, they rarely have economy problems like America do. It is pretty clear who's at the fault. Whatever it is, I surely don't want to be offtopic in this topic but if you want to, be my guest because it will NOT solve any problem if you blindly keep fingering at others.

Now, can we go back to 'cure deafness' topic? I still think that it is more important for us to cure cancer than we do for deafness since it does not cause any deaths for thousand years.

Edit: Once cancer problem is resolve, I will support the idea to cure the deafness by spending on it.

Good point, Meg and Matagsu.

I never thought about this.

True, the "saving risk life" are most important to worry about than worry about cure deafness.

AID, cancers, incurable illness etc. are most important, the scentist should worry about.

HEALTHY comes first.

Thank you for :smash: my head!!!!!

Magatsu Q & A Q Who started the war? A The Arabs Did.
So we have every right to go into battle and invade middle east nations. Just like whan the nazis had to attack russia so therefor the soviet union took almost 2/3 of europe to punish those who attacked russia. 3 nations you never ever!! Mess with and thats Russia,China and the USA and you saw what happend to japan when they attacked peral harbor.

Yes, Meg definitely makes a good case. Deafness is not that big of a deal—a lot of people actually enjoy being deaf and wouldn’t want it any other way. But I’ve never heard anybody say "I sure love my cancer".

Bear in mind too, that hair cell regeneration will not cure everybody. My Chia Pet is deader than a doornail. I’ve never had it tomographically imaged, but I’m guessing that I don’t even have a cochlea in my right ear—it’s probably completely ossified.

I am going with Meg; Magatsu and Levvonian...

I think getting cure for any diseases are far more important than worrying about a cure for the deaf:)

Imagine... you have been deaf for many years then sudden can hear anything... I bet you will have a HUGE headache for a while...

I know for sure that I couldn't live as hearing person.. I like the silence. as old famous quote, 'silence is golden'. Well, I may be wrong about it, I mean it may not serious as I think.

Deaf people have dreams and hopes just like a hearing person does. Deaf people are no differant than hearing people are. But majority of soceity are hearing people and its very hard for a deaf person to communicate with hearing people. How in the hell a deaf person supposed to do his job when a boss or supervisor calls him or her? I was happy working in movie theater now i might have to give that up because im deaf and live on welfare. Thats what i dont wanna do.

Raven: Seriously. Get your ass off that chair and do something.

I am not trying to offend. But I've been here ONLY FOR TWO DAYS. All I've heard you say basically is "Arab this, Arab that." and "I hate being Deaf."

Now, our lives are what is AHEAD, of us not what happened in the past. You used to be able to hear. That's good. But now what are you going to do? Sit and wait for 10 more years?

Obviously from your posts you want to do something. Well, why don't you?

Louis Braille.. He became blind after a tool struck him in the eye. What did he do? He moved on, made one of the MOST popular language among the blind. I would swear to God that my vision is the LAST THING I would want to lose. You should be happy it's your hearing. There's people out there not as lucky. (Monster Tumor along with some other things)

I apologize for venting. I should keep reminding myself that the sole PURPOSE of life is to just surivive. Everything else is just essenetial.

Do yourself a favor, go out there, INHALE. Enjoy the nature. Go to the mountains, lay on a side of a creek, river... look around you. Just relax, man.
Doing that does wonders for me.

Just because you are deaf doesn't mean you have to live on welfare. Maybe it just means now is the opportunity for you to find an exciting new career. Working in a movie theater is fun (I know, I've done it), but that is not a life-time career. That is a stepping-stone job to something else. Maybe this sudden deafness is just the kick in the pants you needed to move on to bigger and better things.

I understand that right now, you are going thru a period of shock, disappointment, and big change. It will take some time to adjust. But after you adjust, and see new options, then you can jump into new opportunities. Now is the time, before you get too old, to learn a new career. Maybe you will need to start at the bottom, but that is a new beginning, not the end of the world.

As you can see from AD posters, you have many friends and supporters here, with good advice, if you just humble yourself enough to accept them.

Maybe you can find a good relaxation therapist to help you thru the rough spots. Or follow pfh's advice and go outside and work off some of that stress thru physical activity, and connection with nature.

Complaining and blaming won't change your situation. It will only make you a bitter, lonely man.

I agree Post from hell and Reba....:)

One of my favorite quote "Take Life what you have and give it your best" :thumb:

Very good suggestions made to Raven by everyone...smile It showed that everyone care about you, Raven as you are going thru hard time dealing with your deafness. With time, things WILL get better as you accept your deafness. It may not seem that way now though. There are many people who are deaf that have fantastic careers. Look at Magatsu...he is studying to be a doctor and he is deaf. I know a friend who is studying to get doctorate degree in law and he is deaf. It is really all in the attitude and acceptance.

And I love your quote, Cheri! I do go by that quote every day and it made me live my life to my fullest with joy. :thumb:

By the way, Magatsu, how did you come up with ur screen name?
