[ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CnOJgDW0gPI]Imagine A World Where Being "Gay" The Norm & Being "Straight" Would Be The Minority! [Short Film] - YouTube[/ame]

I've often thought about this... :hmm: I don't think I can even imagine it.... However, think about all the extra hot chicks!!! :D

Some neighborhoods of some cities offer this already. No biggy.

I would love to imagine A World Where Being "Deaf" The Norm & Being "Hearing" Would Be The Minority...

If homosexuality was the norm at the beginning of creation, the human race would have been at a dead end. There would have been no subsequent generations. End of story.

What is the point of this video? That a homosexual society would be intolerant of heterosexuals if they were in the majority?

Maybe not. The occasional straight people might reproduce, and gay people might choose to as well. I know some lesbian couples who've chosen to have kids (biological to one partner).

I can imagine the rate of reproduction being alot lower, which might have saved us. The planet can't support our growing numbers. We're poisoning everything faster than the earth's processes can clean up after us.

thats a debatable point. Its not our breeding which is the problem nor is it just one problem. . One of them and in my opinion a very serious one is our over hyper indulgence consumer culture, in other words our irresponsibility and short sightedness. its systemic, not natural.
we can do better.
Breeding is needed if we wish to survive. period.
Minorities are always oppressed. In every system we have cooked up as of yet. It would be no different if homosexuals where the norm with an added important "but"
In order for that society to breed at a good rate to sustain itself tech would be heavily involved. I wouldn't doubt such a society would also choose to keep straights a minority by what ever gene thing they device and all disabilities a thing of the past, Deaf people would be extinct.
its the hearing worlds fantasy. straight or not.
Its scary. Its almost a natural conclusion when the tech exists to do it cheaply and easily. Hence in a society where homosexuality is the norm, that society would device tech to aid it to procreate, this tech would also most likely in my opinion be used to selectively breed not only the sex and sexual orientation but also every other thing to do with th physical body. it will be advanced quicker due to its necessity. That will happen in this society too. l(look down the cochlear implant rabbit hole and what do you see?) But in my opinion be accelerated in a homosexual society due to the need of its development for the sustainment of that society.
my opinion of course, albeit somewhat repetitive. i would like to formulate my thoughts more on this. for what its worth.

However, if homosexuality was the norm, that is presuming that it was that way since the first human generation, before high tech reproduction modes, so that would pretty much end the human race right there.

Note: At the beginning of the clip, one placard reads "Adam & Steve, not Adam & Eve." So, if that were the case, end of the line for humans.

I don't think that's the point. I think the idea is to get straight people to think about how it would feel to be treated that way. To put themselves in others' shoes and hopefully come out of it with a better understanding of how important it is to have compassion and respect for one another, even if we don't always understand or can't relate to something.

To think about what it would be like to have something as basic and nourishing and necessary as loving our loved ones seen as dirty and ugly and wrong and sinful. To be told this by our friends and family authorities in our lives and spiritual leaders, to be abused and shut out, to really think about that, to think "it could have gone that way instead, and this would be my life." And hopefully to realize "that would be really bad, that would not be ok" and hopefully to maybe take a little step toward understanding what some of our attitudes have been doing for so long, to a group of people who truly, could have been us.

well yes and no, it was basically a piss-take on how society do the indoctrination, a similar piss-take thing in Planet of the apes

yes, indeed, but it would be harder, since now we have such a variation of deafness, (but then again the gay community have variations too) so if that similar tactic was employed then we must use an obvious binary opposites and use clearly through out the video, and include that same religious piss-take too! (hell i think I should think up the script for this year short-film competitions as I have my own professional camera set up...

so, hmmm...

A more articulate way to put it is "social commentary"
but piss take works
all minorities will have the "what if" we ruled fantasy while they are oppressed. Not on a large scale but individually sure and of course when it gets to a large scale thats when the proverbial shit hits, so to sign. Once that idea gets thought and catches it changes things.
Rather then a what if, i like more the why should we? line of thinking.
why? and i'm not to interested int he idea from the beginning as everyone knows thats impossible. but 'one day" could happen. and thats where tech comes in. once we can order everything on a kid like we do a pizza. the ramifications of that are very very very scary.

I agree that there are other serious problems, including what you've mentioned, but I disagree about our breeding rates not being a problem. A population that continues to double in a limited environment will eventually become insustainable. Less indulgent lifestyles and advanced technology will only postpone that insustainability.

Not true. While some people have kids because they really wanted to have sex and there was an accident, other people have kids because they really want them. (Not to say there's no overlap there!)

So you'd pretty much lose the procreation from the first group, but you'd still have all the second. And I think you'd have more of the second, because that'd be (for most people) the only way to have kids. I know people who've done this, gay or straight, no fancy technology. Either no partner or a partner who they couldn't reproduce with (because of gender or sterility) and arrangements were made and now there's another person running around.

Besides putting the brakes on our unsustainable population growth, imagine what a boost we'd get in emotional health (and all that affects) in the next generation. *Every* child born to parents who really wanted to have children, who specifically made an effort to have kids, independently of their sex drives.

The world is limited but we are not even close to the point where it matters. overpopulation is an idea not a fact. certain places are densely populated
yes
certain places and allot of places are not. Mexico city is, canada is not. so on and so forth.
im very hesitant to latch to the overpopulation idea due to it very easily leading to a streamlined gov. controlled order a pizza type of production of human beings to meet certain standards of where some white coated dickhead thinks population should or should not be
scary. considering the deaf are always at the top of the list when the hearing world wants to cut down some.
my opinion of course. love the discussion by the way

I see this in a whole difference way. What if the whole world was tolerance of everyone else and it did not matter who you chose to loved , or how you worship. Why would it be any better if gay was the 'norm' and being straight was 'difference' , that does not solve anything. This idea only revere things around it does not stop people from judging other people .
This remind of the Twilight Zone episode where the norm was being 'ugly' and being 'good looking' was being 'difference' .

scary. down right scary. its odd because at one point your arguing to save the world by creating a sustainable system then at another your arguing for the most unnatural of things. procreation independent of sex drive. the social ramifications of this are nightmarish
