My first day back to work and it was hard to get up in the morning after, a long summer break.
Im sorry this happened. My son somehow ended up in the wrong line for the school bus at school so he missed his bus. The school called me to pick him up around 3:45. I was in the middle of a meeting for Back to School Night at my work, so I didnt get the message until around 4:10. Finally arrived around 4:30 to get him. I asked the school how could something like that happen and that it better not happen again. Now, I am stressed because I know I will worry each day whether he is getting on the right bus or not. Now, I am paranoid about him getting on the wrong bus and end up missing. I just feel sick to my stomach. Ughhhh!

Shit, Dixie. So sorry!
Thanks. Right now we are worried sick as to what will happen to him if the state decides to bring charges since the infant died. As of the incident a state trooper has suspended his driver's license. We, the family, have taken his keys and his truck away. We feel that he should not be driving anymore after this. He's upset, but he's in such a state of shock that we don't think the full impact of this has fully registered with him. He knows the infant died, but he feels like he should still be allowed to drive. He's 85 years old, so he feels like his independence is being taken away. This was all an accident and my grandfather never would have intentionally done this. My mom talked to him and from what she gathered, he doesn't remember what happened. This is very sad.
That's very sad. Did he get checked out to see if he had a minor stroke or anything?
Sadly, no. He refused medical care on the spot when the paramedics showed up, but he did have to get escorted to the hospital by the State Trooper to run a blood test to ensure that he wasn't intoxicated or under the influence. (Which he was neither). He had gone to the pharmacy to pick up his prescription medicine when this happened. I wasn't there at the time because I was at work, but my mom was. Unfortunately she didn't make him seek medical attention to make sure there wasn't an underlying medical cause.
I hope it doesn't come to that, but right now I am tempted to get a list of all the medications he is taking and if one or more of them have a known side effect of "loss of motor skills" or "fainting", then that might help. I just hope the state decides to not bring charges. I'll be worried sick until I find out one way or another. I really wish he would have gone to his regular doctor today and gotten checked out. I wouldn't be surprised if his regular doctor finds out about this and demands him to come see him for a complete check-up immediately. He should get checked, as it could help him in what kind of sentence he gets if it comes to that.
How can charge be laid over accident???
It's vehicular homicide.
