Jeep gone

Lots better. Maybe you can find another Jeep of the same year and fix it up.

And on your stomach pain, it could be from the seatbelt. I still have problems with a shoulder injured when we were in a crash 10 years ago.
It might be both, seat belt and nerves.

Did you get your shoulder treated after the crash?

Yes, but right away no. I thought it was just a bruise. So neglected it for a while.

If I had the knowledge I would have done more checking then.

I'm sorry you're having tummy pains over this, Reba....and about driving....
:ty:

I don't know why I'm being such a baby about it. I hope I get over the apprehension of driving soon. I can't avoid driving every day, so I need to get over it. Too bad I have to drive by that same spot each day that I work.

Yes, the adjuster was fair. I think the relatively low mileage helped, too.

He said the tires added $1,000 by themselves.

The rest of the Jeep is in excellent condition, so I think they expect to get back some of their money by parting it out.

He said we can't take off the fog lights or window visors, even though they were added on by us.
That sucks losing the items you purchased for the car.... did you protest though?

Hubby did some but since the overall settlement was fair we decided to accept it. The items weren't worth holding up the payment for.

Do you mean the money that I owe the IRS? I don't think they'd appreciate that.

I found out that I will get at a little over $3,900 for my Jeep.

We're stripping everything off the old one that's allowed, and siphoning the gas. We can't take the tires though.

I drove today but I didn't like it. My stomach hurt all day.

Wow, that's a GREAT price for the jeep.

You should be able to get another car fairly easy with that.

We're checking one out about 100 miles from here. Hubby will drive there Wednesday to check it out. If it looks good he will offer cash and maybe get even a few dollars more off the price. (The seller said that several people have been interested in it but they wanted financing, which was not accepted. The seller also said to look it over closely, and he may take off more dollars if we find anything wrong. I think he's motivated to sell.)

It's a 1998 Jeep Cherokee for $3,995, with 132,291 miles. It has more features than my old Jeep. The CarFax looked clean.

Understandable, Reba....when the Semi totaled my car...I didn't go to work for a week...nightmares were the worst. And I could not drive the route I usually took for a very long time! Takes time for ur nervousness to heal...maybe you can take a different route, even if it's the longer way around? That's what I did. Even now, when I'm on the expressway and a Semi comes by, I grip the wheel.
You're tough!...It'll get better.

I'll never understand east coast people. I sell my jeeps for half that price.

I'm afraid the wreck happened right in front of the college where I work, so there's no way to avoid that section of road.

I'm glad I wasn't driving a Smart Car at the time. :giggle:

I don't blame you for being nervous around semi's. They can be intimidating even without your wreck. :Ohno:

I checked the book price, and they're selling it for under the book price.

Why do you think Jeeps sell for more in the Southeast? What is the factor?

Your insurance is being generous. You should be able to get another car for $3900 with no problems.

Reba, I have a 1995 Jeep Grand Cherokee Orvis Edition I will sell outright to you for $1,000

It needs approximately $900 in repairs. Tell TCS it needs new valve seals and transmission seals (I have the valve seals and gaskets).

I am trying to be fair - I am selling it for far below the KBB private party value, but it needs repairs. I will understand if you are not interested - I can sell it locally, but ... I am not using it and I have 3 other vehicles. Soo ... anyways its yours if you want it.

Thanks but we're keeping our car search within 100 miles. We don't have time to drive any further. (Even 100 miles is pushing it.) Also, I would like a vehicle that is ready to go without major repairs. My preference is a regular Cherokee, not Grand Cherokee. I think with the insurance money I should be able to come close to a replacement of my old Jeep. :)

No problem and I understand. Just wanted to offer in case you were interested.

That's great news about the insurance settlement. Way better than what you feared! Will they also pay for a car rental for you for a while?

I know what you mean about being scared to drive. Take deep breaths, think calm thoughts - you'll get your confidence back in time.

Eh, had one in front of me earlier today. I looked at that smart car, and said to myself... Hopefullly that smart guy won't be too dumb to hit brakes real hard. Otherwise I would kick him out.

Glad you got settlement. If it were my wife, perhaps get another Cherokee. Cherokee has proven to me that it is darn robust SUV I ever had.

I'm glad I wasn't driving a Smart Car at the time. :giggle:

Smart car is VERY extremely rare in Alabama and I only see twice in year, that it.

I hate Smart car, anyway.

Also, there are plenty of Cherokee in Alabama. ;)

rare here in Iowa, too. I see Pri time to time around here, though. Smart car is fairly common in WA state because of the density in the metro area.

Three days rental car but so far we haven't gotten one.

I hope so.
