Duggars Family... When Will It End?

I have two kids.

Before, my first one born.. I wanna FIVE!

After, my First one born.. I wanna THREE!

After, my second one born.. I wanna NONE!

The Duggar Family is too much!

The thing is Preeclampsia (sp?) will keep happening with every pregnancy she goes through from now on. Maybe this is "god" telling them that 19 is finally enough. When god said "be fruitful and multiply" I don't think 'he' meant like this!

Duggar Boys Save Little Girl's Life
Duggar Boys Save Little Girl's Life - Good Deeds, Joshua Duggar : People.com

It was a clear Thursday afternoon when Josh Duggar, the first of 19 children born to Jim Bob and Michelle Duggar, looked out at the highway in Springdale, Ark., and watched in horror as three cars crashed.

"I went out to see what I could do," says Josh, 21, whose family is featured on TLC's 19 Kids and Counting reality show. "That's when I saw the little girl."

Six-year-old Maddye Plascensia was brought by her grandmother from the wreck into Josh's nearby used car dealership.

Josh immediately called 911 and kept the dispatcher informed as his brother, John, 20, did CPR on the unresponsive child. Both young men have experience as volunteer firefighters in their hometown of Tontitown, Ark.

"Having a daughter of my own, I felt such a connection there," says Josh, who is parent to 3-month-old Mackynzie with his wife, Anna, 21. "I was glad to have had some trauma training."

Josh says all the credit goes to the Springdale, Ark., firefighters who arrived to continue working on little Maddye. "I could see the emotion in their eyes," Josh says. "It was very serious."

Maddye is now in stable condition at Arkansas Children's Hospital in Little Rock – the same hospital where Josh's premature baby sister, Josie, is in intensive care. The Duggars met up with Maddye's grateful family Tuesday night in a hospital lobby.

Proud Parents
"They recognized us and were thanking us for Josh and John helping to save little Maddye's life," says Jim Bob. "I am so proud of my two oldest sons who responded so quickly in helping to save this little girl."

He adds: "You pour your life into your children, and it was so encouraging that they had such a quick response and were ready to help. They made a difference."

Josh says that he believes he and John were there to help. "I don't believe in coincidences," Josh says. "I think we were in the right place at the right time because God has a plan for Maddye's life. I'm glad we were there."

I thought he was born early because she had gallstones. They need to do a surgery, so they had to get let him born early.

My husband had gallstones, and I blame it on processed food, not too many children.

Josie Duggar Gaining Weight, but Remains Hospitalized
Josie Duggar Gaining Weight, but Remains Hospitalized - Health : People.com

It's been a rough couple of months for Josie Brooklyn, the 19th child of Jim Bob and Michelle Duggar – but as Mother’s Day approaches the family has good news about their micropremie.

Josie, who was born on Dec. 10 at a gestational age of 25 weeks and weighing just 1 lb., 6 oz., is gaining approximately 2 oz. a day and now weighs 5 lbs., 14 oz.

"She loves to eat," says Michelle, smiling, as she feeds Josie. "When she feels good, she looks at you and smiles and talks. She's definitely a talker and has the sweetest personality."

That Josie is gaining weight is positive, but doctors are still searching for answers to several digestive issues she has: She currently needs enemas at 6-hour intervals.

"We are identifying what needs to be done to find a more permanent solution," says Josie's physician, Dr. Robert Arrington, co-director of the neonatal intensive care unit.

A Scary Start
At just 8-days-old Josie suffered a perforated bowel. She was rushed to Arkansas Children's Hospital where Michelle and Jim Bob (who have 17 kids at home ranging in age from 20-years to 4-month-old Josie) set up their lives in the neonatal intensive care unit, praying she'd live. "We placed her in God's hands and thanked him for every day she was with us," says Jim Bob.

She survived without surgery and continued to stabilize – so much so that she was released from the hospital on April 6 with the understanding that doctors would follow her closely on an outpatient basis – with surgery likely in her future when she was bigger. "I was excited she was home," says Michelle, "but I was worried because I've never cared for a baby so tiny before."

Her fears were realized just two days later when Josie had to be rushed back to the NICU after her vital signs dropped.

Happy Homecoming
Josie's emotional, though brief, homecoming will be featured in a TLC Mother's Day special, 19 Kids and Counting: Josie Comes Home, on Sunday, May 9 at 8 p.m. Her trip back to the hospital will be shown on the show on Tuesday, May 11 at 9 p.m.

The Duggars are hopeful Josie will continue to gain weight and get to a place where further testing and any possible surgeries can be done, maybe even taking her home again in the next weeks.

"This has been such a difficult time for our family," says Jim Bob. "But good things have come out of this experience for us. We've drawn close together and we thank God for every day Josie is here."

Meanwhile, the 17 Duggar kids still at home are glad for the time they get to spend with their sister. Kids 18 and over were the only ones able to visit her at the hospital during flu season, but with that ban lifted, some of the younger ones are taking their turns with mom Michelle, getting to hold their newest sibling. "Our parents have done a wonderful job," says Jana, 20. "They pay attention to our hearts."

Michelle Duggar to Spend Mother's Day in the Hospital
Michelle Duggar to Spend Mother's Day in the Hospital - The Learning Channel, Babies, Anna Duggar, Joshua Duggar : People.com

Mother's Day is filled with bittersweet feelings for mother-of-19 Michelle Duggar, as she sits in the neonatal intensive care unit of Arkansas Children's Hospital in Little Rock with preemie Josie Brooklyn.

"This Mother's Day is definitely going to be different because we'll be at the hospital," she tells PEOPLE. "This is the first time I've been in the hospital on Mother's Day."

Josie was born on Dec. 10 at a gestational age of 25 weeks, weighing just 1 lb. 6 oz., after Michelle's preeclampsia (pregnancy-related high blood pressure) put both their lives at risk.

"She reached the 6 lb. mark today," says Michelle excitedly, adding that doctors continue to run tests to determine when Josie will be released. "We're going to have a six pounder party."

Meanwhile, husband Jim Bob and the 17 other kids at home are scrambling to get ready for Mother's Day themselves.

"The kids and I went out shopping but Michelle is hard to buy things for because she is so practical," he says.

"I just need a new cover for the ironing board," she says, laughing.

Oldest son Josh, 22 and his wife, Anna, 21 are planning to celebrate Mother's Day with the whole family, including their 6-month-old daughter Mackynzie and Jim Bob's mother, Mary Duggar.

"It's Anna's first Mother's Day and that's very special, too," says Michelle. Agrees Jim Bob, "Looks like we'll have three generations of moms here celebrating together."

Though their youngest daughter Josie is still in the hospital, Michelle is visiting with other moms about how grateful they feel. "I was just sitting with another mom and going over all the blessings," she says. "It could be a lot worse. Our babies are growing, that is not always the case."

Last month, Josie was released from the hosptial, only to be rushed back soon after. Her emotional homecoming will be featured in a TLC Mother's Day special 19 Kids and Counting: Josie Comes Home on Sunday, May 9 at 8 p.m. EST, and her trip back to the hospital will be shown on the show on Tuesday, May 11 at 9 p.m. EST.

"This is a very special Mother's Day even though we are going through a lot of unknowns," says Jim Bob. Michelle says she takes care not to ask the littler children what's happening, "because they will tell all the Mother's Day secret plans and the older kids will get upset."

"We are going to remember this Mother's Day like no other," Michelle says. "It will be a Mother's Day I remember forever."

19th Duggar Baby Finally at Home with Family
19th Duggar Baby Finally at Home with Family - Jim Bob Duggar, Michelle Duggar : People.com

It's at last one big, happy Duggar family – emphasis on big.

Josie, the 19th child born to Jim Bob and Michelle Duggar, returned to their busy house last week after spending most of the first six months of her life in a neonatal intensive care unit where she fought for her life after being born dangerously premature.

Although the baby was released from Arkansas Children's Hospital in Little Rock on June 3, her homecoming was delayed because 12 of her siblings got the chicken pox and had to be separated from her. Josie spent three weeks with her mother in a rental house near the hospital until the other children recovered back home with dad.

Finally, on June 25, mother and child made the over 200-mile road trip from Little Rock to Tontitown, Ark., and were met by streamers, hand-made "Welcome Home" banners, old Christmas decorations – and 17 of Josie's siblings (oldest son Josh lives on his own with his wife and baby).

"It is good to be home," says Michelle, laughing. "It is surreal to be here. It was such a long time we were away."

The last time Michelle was at the Duggar family's home, they were decorating for the holidays and looking forward to Josie's expected birth in the spring. "Then, I had to be airlifted to Little Rock in a helicopter," says Michelle.

Michelle's preeclampsia caused an emergency C-section and a dangerously early entry into the world for Josie, who was born Dec. 10 at the gestational age of 25 weeks. As the micropremie struggled to survive, Michelle lived in the rental house with her husband and other children.

The family, whose lives are chronicled on the TLC reality show 19 Kids and Counting, is now settling into a routine with Josie, who has now grown to a "chunky" 9 lbs., 1 oz., says Michele. "She has a double chin now," she says. "It is so precious."

12 kids with chickenpox. Weren't they vaccinated against chicken pox? I wonder.

Anyway, good to hear Josie's progressing well.

wowsers, 12 chick poxers.

as for duggar parents, I have no judgement on them. they seem to manage this big family very well and haven't harm us in any way. what I like about them, making impossibility impossible. some people are just too blind.

maybe they'll stop when they even up genders? now they have 10 males and 9 females right now ... or until the mother is 45 or so, unable to ovulate/produce any more? she's 42, becoming 43 soon so probably not more than 21 or 22 babies.

The rocky road that greeted Josie Brooklyn Duggar after her pre-mature Dec. 19 birth appears to be paved smoothed again.

Born at 25 weeks after mom Michelle was diagnosed with preeclampsia – a rare condition during pregnancy that causes high blood pressure – Josie arrived weighing only 1 lb., 6 oz. Eight days later, her bowel perforated, her parents Jim Bob and Michelle Duggar told PEOPLE. (The telegenic family's travails and triumphs are chronicled on their TLC series, .)

Tuesday morning on NBC's Today show, with the entire Duggar clan gathered around them, the happy parents of 19 told a different story. Josie, now 8 months old, is home and healthy.

"She is doing remarkable," Michelle told program host Meredith Vieria. Josie now weighs 11 lbs., 6 oz., though she is lactose intolerant.

Being Weaned off Oxygen
While her father, Jim Bob, noted that Josie is on a lactose-free formula, the baby is "doing very well now," he added. In response to a question about Josie's need for supplemental oxygen when she sleeps, Jim Bob said she is being weaned off of that.

"By the time she's 2 she should be caught up developmentally," he said.

In regard to Michelle's health woes, her blood pressure, she said, is "back to normal ... I feel really good, I'm so thankful."

So, given the problems faced by little Josie, who was born three months early, would her parents consider having more children? Having earlier this year told PEOPLE, "We'll just wait and see what God has in store," Michelle said to Vieira, "When we look at Josie ... how we went through the challenge we did, we would do it again."

im rather dont think Michelle would have more children!! 20 is enough!!

The Duggars: We're Open to Having a 20th Child
The Duggars: We're Open to Having a 20th Child - Jim Bob Duggar, Michelle Duggar : People.com

Michelle and Jim Bob Duggar have always been open about their willingness to have children. But when the devout Baptists and stars of TLC's 19 Kids and Counting faced the catastrophic aftereffects of their 19th child's premature birth, many assumed they might be done.

But now the couple – who only recently brought baby Josie home after being hospitalized for six months as she recovered from a perforated bowel and rare digestive problems – say they are ready to consider a 20th child.

"Our family is stronger than ever," Jim Bob, 45, tells PEOPLE in its new issue. "We made it through the storm."

That's not to say that everything has been easy with baby Josie. Born early after Michelle developed preeclampsia (pregnancy-induced high blood pressure), Josie was just 8 days old when a perforated bowel threatened her life.

"When she first came home, I couldn't sleep at all," says Michelle, 43. "That was the scariest part for me, having the full responsibility of her care on my shoulders ... It was intimidating."

Similarly daunting are the very real medical risks Michelle could face with another pregnancy – particularly a return of preeclampsia, which can lead to a stroke or prove fatal. But despite the risk – and intense criticism – the pair vow to stick to their beliefs.

"People think we are overpopulating the world," says Jim Bob. "We are following our convictions."

For many more inside details of the Duggars' ever-expanding clan, pick up this week's issue of PEOPLE, on newsstands Friday

im sure Michelle would stop get pregnant!! But 19 children too much!! Jim Bob and Michelle can get more children anytimes if wanted to i dont judges in Arkansas history..

The Duggars are 'ready' to try for baby number 20 (just weeks after bringing number 19 home)
Bob and Michelle Duggar are 'ready' for baby number 20 | Mail Online

Their 19th child, Josie Brooklyn Duggar only came home from hospital in June. But now Bob and Michelle Duggar are seriously considering another addition to their family.

Josie was born last December three months prematurely after it was discovered that Michelle was suffering from near fatal pre-eclampsia.

She has since spent the first six months of her life in hospital with a perforated bowel and other issues that threatened her survival.

Yet the controversial parents claim they are 'ready for more' children, in a startling new interview with People magazine this week.

The family first entered the spotlight on the TLC network show '17 and counting', a reality television show which followed the life of the Duggars' and their then 17 (now 19) children - all of whom have names beginning with the letter J.

'Our family is stronger than ever,' Jim Duggar, 45, tells People.

'We made it through the storm.'

'When she first came home, I couldn't sleep at all,' says Michelle, 43.

'That was the scariest part for me, having the full responsibility of her care on my shoulders ... It was intimidating.

But despite all the problems, the couple would definitely consider adding more to their family.

'People think we are overpopulating the world,' says Jim. 'We are following our convictions.'

Michelle added, 'I'm not pregnant right now, but that could change tomorrow or the next day or the next week.'

'That is out of my hands.'

The family is conservative Christian and has strong beliefs about issues such as contraception, home-schooling, and spending very little time on the internet or watching TV.

The Duggars are considered representative of the Quiverfull movement which 'teaches that children are God’s blessing and that husbands and wives should happily welcome every child they are given.'

Geez...I think they are pushing their luck by trying for another one after the last one nearly died.

I'm all for each his own but it just seems like a huge health risk-- to Michelle and a future child...

I'll be happier about once she goes through the change of life and can no longer reproduce more children. I wonder how many of these children will end up on the welfare system? I wonder if the girls are allowed to pursue a college education? I hope they realize that the girls are more than just "breeders-in-training". I can forsee Michelle Duggar having many health complications as she changes, more than the average woman at her age.
