Ted Kennedy dead at 77

I'm sure Jo Kopechene would've felt the same thing.

Who is Jo Kopechene? And obviously, Mary Jo had some degree of respect for the man. She voluntarily got into a car with him after consuming alcohol and knowing full well that he had been consuming alcohol, as well.

But that is neither here nor there. It is disturbing indeed that there are those that are so desperate to cast dispersions against the 47 years of good the man accomplished that they will continue to reference the same incident over and over and over. So much hate for a man simply because of his political party. But it matters not. He was an accomplished politician who championed the rights of the oppressed, the disinfranchised, and those who suffered the greatest inequities in our society. The next time you call upon the ADA to uphold your civil rights, you would do well to remember that.

Accomplished is a matter of perspective. Certainly it wouldn't be in Kopechne's interest to send praises towards him seeing how she left claw marks on the floorboard of the overturned car in the waters. No, not about his political party but about how the Kennedy pulled big strings to help Kennedy get away scott free. He even like to joke about Chappaquiddick. He's basically a guy who pretty much got away with a lot of things in life. He lived longer than Mary Jo by some 50 years. Go ahead. Adore him. Adulate him.

I don't know if you know this or not, but one of his favorite topics of humor was indeed Chappaquiddick itself. And he would ask people, "have you heard any new jokes about Chappaquiddick?" That is just the most amazing thing. It's not that he didn't feel remorse about the death of Mary Jo Kopechne, but that he still always saw the other side of everything and the ridiculous side of things, too.

Who said anything about adoration or adulation? I respect him for his accomplishments on the behalf of those who needed his support. But if you disagree with his accomplishments to such a degree, then I would suggest that you never deign to take advantage of the many civil rights legislations in which he was primary.

Kennedy violated Mary Jo Kopechne's civil rights. That's for sure.

His civil rights voting record were at best mixed. But it's kind of funny since he at one time called the minority picks made by the younger Bush as a bunch of 'Neanderthals'.

So much justification of homicide based simply on his political party. Wow.

Wait, I got it! I'll get elected into the senate and that way, I can commit negligent homicide! Then I'll say "You can't charge me! I'm darkdog the senator! I've got important work to do!" That way, decades later when I die, people will say "Good ol' darkdog. He championed the free market and competition, helped reduce our tax burden, lowered our spending into something sustainable, and provided strong defense. Sure, he did something horrible that any of us would have gone to prison for, but gosh, what really matters is we agreed with his politics! After all, aren't we a nation of men, not laws, or something? Stop hating just because you disagree with him, you hatey liberals! He accomplished so much more than you have!"

It's too bad there can only be 100 of these special wonderful people. I wish we could all get away with negligent homicide.

Not a waste of my time. Listened to the audio until it reached the said time mark, confirmed that it was exactly what was said in this short transcript late last night. I wasn't about to spend a few hours transcribing several minutes worth of audio. Sorry if it such an inconvenience to you but I do my best at times.....voluntarily.

I wonder how much we paid our tax for Ted's funeral. 10 million dollars or 100 millions dollars or what? I bet that a wealthy family refuses to pay a dime because they are politicians.

i.e. Transportations for the Kennedy family, his coffin, setup lights, chairs, and more...

I think that Ted was messed up from drinking too much from several parties in the old days. It was terrible. I think that all Kennedy family was thinking how much rich they were at that time.

Ted was fat most of his life from drinking alcohol because he must have had a terrible memory of the accident. He felt guilty and not forgiven himself. I think that some people would do the same thing.
 
Let him who is without sin cast the first stone.

Edward Kennedy served his constituents well. For that, I respect him. His constituents turned out to pay their last respects and his widow greeted them. I can't think of many politicians of either party who would receive such respect upon death.

You act like the tax payers are paying for this just because it's Ted Kennedy who died. That's not true. I'm willing to bet that tax payers have paid for the funerals of other past Presidents, Supreme Ct justices, and Congressmen.

Cast the first stone?? Kennedy killed a lady. And got away with murder, literally. We at AD never committted such a crime (at least we hope that's the case). But he would of course dug around until he found a rule around the rule. At least his son said so. What an ironic truth to that considering that he cheated twice while in college. Cheated his way out of a homicide charge. And basically drank his way into a political legacy.


I have better things to do than to watch a funeral on tv.
