Reasons why Alldeaf bans religious

You can go be very angry at me because I was one of them who cause the religion subforum to close, or was it really my fault? I dunno.

No, nobody are fault but the problem is some people take other people´s different POV on their own belief personal and think there´re only one religion, we should follow to. It´s sad that they cannot accept that there´re thousands religions who have different belief than just one religion. Last year was awful... we learn our lesson and respect different POV since Alex re-open the religion sub-forum. Sadly it doesn´t work. Focus, Science and theory view on religion is my interest point because I read Bible history a lot, not bible vereus.

Like what Lumbinlin say is true about you... Yes, you educated us with Buddhism issues really good. It´s sad that you were being attack over your belief on Buddhism... It shows no respect on their part.

We could remove the offending comments rather than closing the threads but as you know, we are not on AllDeaf 24/7. The problem is, when it comes to any kind of religion discussion, some of the members are not able to take it with a grain or to discuss it civilized. That results into posts which are slashed across, belittling, enticing, provoking and talking smack to each other.

I could say the same thing about the War & Political News Forum and Hearing Aid & Cochlear Forum but the difference is, The religion section is always heavily favored with emotional aspects because they get to the point where they overlap their religion perspective rather than dividing the thoughts or to weight the pros/cons of this or that.

While I realize that religion issues has a great significant information and I admit, It's interesting but when it comes to the point where it gets into a rubble, it shows how people can't really take an insight to it.

Yes I know. :(

Ohh I didn't expect you to take this personal, but I was just sacrasm due to my frustrating that they didn't ban the members instead of closing the forum, that's all.

Ohh thank you :) Yeah, it was a disappointment back there..

No, I do not take your post personal but just let you know what I feel.

Willkommen :) - Yeah I know... *sigh*

The religion forum was open in the past.

It went well at first, then people started attacking each other and starting flame wars.

It got to a point where it needed to be temporarily closed.

Later, it was re-opened when members agreed to not let it get out of hand and to do their best to keep their comments neutral.

Well, it got out of hand... worse than before.

So, it was locked again.

Even in non-religious threads, some members would go off-topic by adding a religious comment and others would jump in starting a flame war. Those threads ended up getting locked.

If everyone really wanted the religion forum to be re-opened, then they should have kept their mouths shut and shown respect.

It's something everyone needs to earn.

Can you re-open it? i need a laugh :)

+ 2

Religion topics can be very interesting to discuss. Unfortunately, sadly it can go too far if any one can't be civil and respect each other.

Im sorry AD'ers but +3

...it can be interesting for anyone but it sometimes can scare the others away if there was a flame wars, but I have to agree on what jolie have said. Moderators have done a HUGE job to monitor the section to make sure if it is out of control but I believe it was too much and it exceeded the moderators and Alex's expectations.

Well-said!

I would love to learn more about the religions so I can understand their beliefs. However, I think it is a right thing for the mods to decide on what to do with the religion forum. From my experiences in chatting with Deaf people in IRC (Internet Relay Chat) and chatrooms, the discussion about religions always turn them off because they basically ruin their pleasure and enjoyment.

Haha, I can easily imagine how tiring it can be to constantly watch the religious threads.

They will won't keep peace your mind. More like stress and angry what other people write. Sound like Northern Ireland, they were war over the religious (Protestant vs Roman Catholic). That's kind of stupid to have war over religious.

Some smart people goes dumb things like join cult. One of my cousin is smart person (dean list student at U of Conn) but crazy/weird join buddha or hare krishna from Jewish.

We never forget what happen at NTID's dinner hall in 1980-81. Almost everyday, they had ugliest argued two different group of religious. Local TV news crew brought tv camera at NTID's dinner hall.
They were on the air to show TV news in Rochester.

I prefer no religious for this forum. Little thing discuss goes to ugly argue.

So, if govt (real life) in the worldwide ban the religious. Would the war end? I doubt.

yes, It brings about the migraine pains that set your hands resting on your temples out of stress.

Not? Ok, I'm getting some sarcasm here. So, Yes, I did remove other's and your posts because it has no relations to this thread.

Instead of close down threads, why dont ban members who cross the line? I think religion forums should remain open because everyone can learn from something from other different religion and it may help to shed off "stereotypes" of one certain religion group.

If I am mod, I would ban people for being retarded or lash out personal attack than closing down forums. Pity.

Well the religion forum was for pure discussions of how religions are set and what kind in your life but it aint really smart to do the attacking and provoking and flame outs on that.. I sure am glad the religion section closed so heads would cool off over this.. just that it would be too much to stress on the small parts of religion and make some folks look bad than ever instead of asking polite questions about how their religion works for them... that why I sure as heck dont go into that section at all as it aint my style and beside I am not too religionous to be able to comment on things in there... just my opinion and beside, Alex asked for folks to respect the sectoin and there wasnt any again so hats off to him to close the section for the time being now....

If you are closing an entertainment, you are losing your chance to increase the number of members.

I say reopen.

-1!
