LA is full of rich people. easy for LA to grow and take over ghetto neighborhood but they won't do it unless police beat up people and drive them out :)

NJ is not full of rich people so.... nobody's gonna do anything unless Governor Christie can convince a team of wealthy people to invest.
 Wealthy people paid the LA team to bust gangs? Do you have the source to support your imaginative post?

dude. don't be naive. ever heard of "political donation"? and do you think a person can become a mayor without financial backings from wealthy people?

why would a city spend a very expensive resource just to bust gangs if nothing will take its place? if you remove a gang, another gang will take over.... thus a vicious cycle begins. expensive. stupid. wasteful. blood bath. the city will ONLY do it if there is substantial financial backings to take place after neighborhood gets cleaned out and demolished for new condos. the developers would do it if it's tax-free for at least 30-60 years. that's the only way possible to revive a city. this is really old old old old news in converting a ghetto neighborhood. Detroit is in process of that but it's very hard to keep developers on board. they lose interest quickly or get scared off easily.

Uh-oh, a Mexican-American mayor in LA got elected through wealthy people? That's hilarious.

why don't you take a look at his donor list? it's a public record.

You don't get my point. People vote to elect a mayor. Wealthy people's money don't count. For example, Romney got a lot of money from snob wealthy people and he didn't get elected as our President.

If you were pointing out that wealthy CA residents donate money to law enforcements to bust gangs in LA, that's called a charity so they can use it as a tax-write off. I don't see nothing wrong with that. As for Camden in NJ, well there are plenty of rich NJ residents. If they choose not to donate, that's their business which means NJ governor has to take care of it somehow.

I don't actually give a shit about those ghettos but I can imagine that it could have spread all over to other cities or towns. That sucks.

The last time I visited Jersey City where I was born, it got worse so I won't visit it ever again.

plus - you cannot really compare mayor to President....

donating to police department is useless and rich people know that. why would rich people donate money to bottom of totem??? lol you really don't know what and how rich people do it.

NOPE!

you really should give a shit. your state is in deep red.

oh it's lot better now but still a lot of work. I'd give it another 10-20 years for Jersey City to reach the same level as this town near me. JC is a growing popular city for young people commuting to NYC/Newark/wherever because Hoboken is too expensive and Newark is too ghetto to live in except a few districts like Ironbound.

Investing in WHAT?

First of all, I said that there is a special team to bust gangs in South Central. Then you said LA is full of rich people. What do they have to do with the special team that caught hoodlums in South Central?

I am not interested in your assumption. How will they get rid of the ghetto in JC?

uh.... I just explained it.... Post #79. #80. #82. #86.

when's the last time you were in JC?

when's the last time you were in JC?
I would say about 15 years ago. When I drove through JC to meet my aunt in North Bergen for the first time, my wife asked me what the hell I am doing. I told her that I didn't know that it became a ghetto where white people used to live. I was so shocked to see it. Our hearts were beating until I drove out of that area. What a big change! I moved out of JC when I was 18. It's really sad for me to see my old hometown that way.

what a freaking conflict of what you were/are saying...
what conflict? sounds like you are very confused.... help me to help you to understand.

Investing in WHAT?
*sigh*.... wow seriously dude? I've explained this quite abundantly clear... to invest in development... that's the ONLY ONLY ONLY ONLY ONLY way to convert a ghetto town into a vibrant town.

one word - MONEY.

First of all, I said that there is a special team to bust gangs in South Central. Then you said LA is full of rich people. What do they have to do with the special team that caught hoodlums in South Central?
you do realize that LA is a very big city, right? LA is a real estate gold mine. Did you check LA mayor's donor list yet? I bet you never did. guess who is the top donor? the real estate sector. 2nd biggest one? lawyers.

Do you realize how much it costs to set up a "special team"? and to clean up South Central with so-called special team? do you realize how stupid and wasteful it would be to clean up a city without reconstructing plan in place?

exactly what's so hard to understand that without any plan or backing in place and if you arrest gang members... another gang will take over. you need to have dozens of investors together to invest in developments once a neighborhood gets cleaned up. The investors would demolish the abandoned/dilapidated buildings and build condos/malls/etc. That takes over 6-10 years for construction and another 5-10+ years to show growth and revenues. They would do it with tax break/incentives. That means.... some co-op condos would be tax-free for probably 30+ years and commercial sectors would also move in with tax incentives so the town would not likely to see any revenue for probably 10+ years. Depending on location and neighboring towns - the first wave would likely be semi-low-income people like young adults or college students - assuming that it has direct routes via train/bus/etc to major city for jobs/colleges. Next wave would likely to be low-income people for housing projects. Next? who knows.

You do realize that I'm explaining this at least 3x for you already???? Please calm down and read each post VERY SLOWLY and OBJECTIVELY! Stop angry-reading it.

Getting rid of gangs doesn't mean getting rid of people who live in the ghetto. The ghetto will always be there once it becomes a ghetto. For example, South Central, Watts, Compton and others are ghettos and will remain that way until the end of the world.

That's not what it's for. Its purpose is to reduce crime (murder and drugs) in that area.

lol!!!

yea I know what you mean. 15 years ago was pretty bad. drug-infested shithole full of homeless people and thugs and abandoned buildings. very scary to even drive thru it!!!! I think everything went bad in 70's or 80's.

now it's a lot better but still some sections are ghetto - mostly inner-city area. JC is slowly converting into a nice city like Hoboken. very slowly.

I can remember when I was a kid in 1980's, NYC used to be a shithole. I had to go to NYC often because of facility for speech therapy training and audiology. Times Square used to be full of whorehouses and porn stores... lot of bums washing car windshields. frequently - cops don't respond to certain areas until hours later with dozens of backups. terrible terrible terrible.

well NYC changed. Hoboken changed. but yes ghetto areas are still there - at least it's small. every city has its vice...

same thing for Camden, Newark, and Trenton.

From Wiki:

At the 2010 United States Census, there were 247,597 people, 96,859 households, and 57,631 families residing in the city. The population density was 16,736.6 per square mile (6,462.0 /km2). There were 108,720 housing units at an average density of 7,349.1 per square mile (2,837.5 /km2). The racial makeup of the city was 32.67% (80,885) White, 25.85% (64,002) Black or African American, 0.51% (1,272) Native American, 23.67% (58,595) Asian, 0.07% (161) Pacific Islander, 12.81% (31,726) from other races, and 4.42% (10,956) from two or more races. Hispanics or Latinos of any race were 27.57% (68,256) of the population.[12]
That's a big change from the time before I moved out. Have you been to Journal Square recently? If so, how is it doing?

Yes, there are ghetto areas in many cities, but in all white cities in southern states, you will see bubba neighborhood (aka redneck) that you see ugly houses and rotten trailers. Most crimes are domestic violence that where angry drunk husband beat the wife up.

I'm getting very tired of white vs. black over the US and race riot will lead to worsen the discrimination against minorities, so it means businesses will unlikely to hire minorities and bankers/creditors won't give business loan to minorities. US schools are become more segregated now.

That's horrible for sure. :(

there is news a bunch of black kids are cleaning up the area and other blacks are accusing them of Helping the white people. They have not released weither the cop was black or white yet either...
Funny thing is, they tore up their own hood like a bunch of ass clowns they are.
