It has to be paid for somehow.....Are you willing to make a wager on whether taxes will go up for the middle class in the next 2 years? I am.

In other words, you are just guessing. There is nothing in the bill that states that taxes will go up for those choosing to keep their employer sponsored insurance.

No, it does not mean that at all. Please cite the exact section of the bill that provides for that.

It would be the WHOLE dern thing that got crammed down our throats.

You made a comparison to this with ... uh, speeding tickets, parking fines and something else related to "driving".

Is it **required** to have a driver's license?

or is it a **choice**?

Think about that carefully. It is now a requirement to have health insurance if you wish to be a U.S. Citizen.

If you want to breathe air in the U.S. - you must pay for your own health insurance or get fined and/or imprisoned.

Please explain to us all how this will not create class warfare. Please explain how this is not socialism.

oh? That mean, I don't need to have health insurance and fed will bitching at me and get me fine. wtf? I'm confuse between your words and news.

If you don't have Ins you will be required to get it now or pay a fine/face jail. If you have it through your job you can keep it.

Taxes will go up either way....in my opinion

But where in Texas does it make laws? Austin... right? And Austin is overwhelming a liberal city with strong Democratic voting record. We just like to give conservatives a hard time. ;)

Again, cite the section of the bill that provides for increased taxes for those that choose to keep their employer sponsored health insurance.

OMG...what is this country coming to. Expecting people to have personal responsibility. Oh, the horrors of it all!

Yep, an opinion. Not a fact. No need to go into a panic about an opinion.

Of course... I mean seriously, they think they're being responsible by not having health insurance.

No, predicting taxes will go up for everyone.... Care to make a prediction?

Hmm. Nowhere in the US Constitution does it say that Congress can deem a bill to have passed. Pelosi & Co. aren't just making up policy as they go, but also procedure -- possibly unconstitutional procedure, at that. All to enact a bill remaking a sixth of the US economy over the 3-1 opposition of the American people.

Personal responsibility? Is that what its being called now?

That's what they called it in Soviet Russia too.

So, our founding fathers did not have this so called "personal responsibility?"

Who do you think pays for health care of the uninsured? The government?

There is a lot of pissing and moaning about how this new mandated coverage will raise taxes.

The reason there are people who have no health insurance is because it's expensive. But if the burden were equally distributed--then it's not as expensive and everyone could have decent health care. It serves to reduce the gap between the haves and have nots, not create "class warfare."

Like the highway system...everyone pays for it regardless if they drive on all of the highways in the system. If that weren't the case, we'd still be driving on dirt roads because we couldn't afford what we now have.

I'll even stand behind your opinion.

me 3 .. but its not an opinion. It is a fact. One purported by every republican and the 34 Democrats that actually had a pair, that opposed this bill.

Personal responsibility is exactly that - a personal CHOICE.

It is no longer a choice if you decide to not have health coverage. It is now a crime. Breathing without health insurance is punishable by a $2,000 fine and/or imprisonment.

This will very well break our country. I have never seen anything as volatile as this being passed, especially in the economy we are facing.

It was already confirmed that it is an opinion.

For it to be a fact it has to be written into the bill.

Tax increases are not uncommon. Who's to say what made taxes increase and what didn't?

And taxes will not rise at the rate that health care costs have risen in the last decade, thanks to society having to absorb the costs of the uninsured that are receiving catastophic care, or those that were previously insured but denied coverage or dropped from their carrier based on the pre-existing illness clause.
