However, I think they should eliminate the MCE systems from it. Too much different systems creates more confusion for those teachers who have little knowledge of deafness. Keep it simple...use two pure languages...ASL and English.

I think what we experienced here was a bit of a cross cultural misunderstanding in communication. How about if we all just start over?
 
Great idea. I am interested in comments and opinions from any professionals that have knowledge in the area of deaf education to please comment on the information I have included in post#44 and post #45. This is what I believe my state is doing instead of passing a bill of rights per se. Thank you Shel for your input.
 
Yes, this is definately a step in the right direction. Of particular benefit is the plan to every deaf/hoh child's education tracked by an assigned specialist in deaf ed.

I'd like to see "communication plan" detailed a bit more. It is rather vague, IMO.

And continue to deny equal access to deaf children? Do u have any idea what happens to kids who fall through the cracks and end up with language deficits and delays? I work with them.

Oh, come on, Babyface!! We need all the bills to pass so that we can have access to have ASL interpreters and to have Deaf programs. It is really hard trying to understand what is being said in a regular hearing classrooms. This is what happen when I was mainstream in a oral only hearing classrooms. The Deaf program have all the toolbox to help Deaf and HOH get the help to understand in the hearing classrooms. That is why we need to talk about getting the bills all over USA so that we can get the toolbox especially sign language like ASL. Without the toolbox, we will be lost and frustrated. We can be an advocates, even some hearing advocates to help our Deaf community and the Deaf children. No, we are not stupid to help ourselves. :roll:

Babyface, it not that we are stupid to help ourselves it that we have missed the point of ongoing unsolved - we need to break it away and shake our head and shoulder and get back on to business properly. It won't hurt anyone if we can start over and maybe never too late who knows! It takes one step at a time.
