    Arranged marriage vs Love marriage

Honestly, I hate the idea of arranged marriages because my mother wanted to get one for me. She tried to one of her friend's daughter to pair up with me. I didn't feel like it because I didn't grew up in China. So long story short, my mother gave up after I wasn't that interested in marrying...

    A Parent's joy versus animal's torment.

Honestly, I dont think most parent wouldn't care about this if they could get their child to hear. I'm sad to hear this. But there cannot be a progress without prices. This seems to be our price for getting CIs.

Man gets a choice: Marry her or go to jail

Doesn't the 8th amendment cover this? It states that "no cruel and unusual punishment may be used" If so, technically he violated the constitutional right?

Grandview School District pays $1 million settlement to deaf student

Than it is a good thing that this school district must pay. Slash some of their budgets for unnecessary things like sport teams and events.

    Security System for deaf people

Can't you get a light signal that is tied into the security system. I know of someone that does that. She is deaf and uses the light to help her know if something is going on. Like green is for doorbells, red is emergency and yellow is warning.

What is the best cell phone for first time user?

You could try iPhones. They might be doable. I use them to communicate with my friends and the speaker quality isnt that bad. Plus it's easy for first-timer to get into the environment without any problems

    attended a mainstream school??

You know, Sometimes I wonder if I would have been better off in a deaf school since it would be easier for me. I know I might have a harder time adjusting since I haven't learn ASL until recently(I learned it years back, but I forgot it when I went mainstream and I'm trying to learn it again.)

    survey questions

If I don't count since I am still in high school, you don't have to read mine. #1. For all my life, I have been communicating orally with my family and parents. My dad and I have been trying to learn ASL so that I could adjust to the deaf community better later. 2. I currently love my school...

    attended a mainstream school??

I am sorry if I was being rude, I should have not said that and I realize that there was a time when deaf people were being forced to do one thing and only this. I am living in a world where I didn't grew up and went to a deaf school. All my life, I have been mainstreaming.

    attended a mainstream school??

To be honest, I don't think you understand the idea of mainstream. I like being in mainstream school because, how am I suppose to know anyone who is deaf in my family. I am the first and will probably be the last in my time within my family to be deaf. Unlike other deaf families where deafness...

    Should I do the NHS

True, last year there was this company that said that they would guarantee me a scholarship in exchange for a yearly fee of 10 dollars. I didn't do it cause it sounded too good to be true. As for the NHS, it the real thing as the teachers handed it out and I had a meeting with my counselor.

    Should I do the NHS

Basically, I am at a mainstream school on the East Coast and I got a letter of eligibility for the National Honor Society. I was wondering if I should do it since it will help me with my transcript when I go to college. I was wondering if it would be a good thing for a deaf student to have.
