Well sometimes deaf users can prank, we can't really tell or discriminate and determine who is a real deaf person and who isnt...otherwise that eliminates your freedom to say what you want or do what you want on relay.
Ahahaha. Good point. I remember parts but not details of calls and the deaf users - I also don't dwell on it and don't leave borderline-sarcastic posts on the AllDeaf Forum.
To be honest. Having been IP Relay - I got yelled at a lot for user errors. They give me a number, I dial it, they don't get through or typed the wrong number and they blame me for dialing it wrong when I only click and pasted the number they gave me into the program which dials out the calls...
The SSA, they pay interpreters on average $90 an hour for 2 hours minimum paid compensation. So even if the interpreter only interpreted for 15 minutes they'd get $180.00 for the day.
VRS at my company pays around $30-45 (depending on experience and certifications).
I got lucky. My college...
Yeah unfortunately companies don't have any patience or just assume the worse...as an IP Relay Operator I got hung up on a lot and it was really frustrating because often times they thought it was either a Nigerian scam or they just didn't understand what a relay call was. I think businesses...
I know this for a fact. Hearing people cannot get a VP unless they are related to or married to someone who is deaf or hard of hearing. They have something else called Envision which is very much like VP just through your computer and not a VP-200 device - and it's free. You just have to...
Companies unfortunately don't listen...my friends have done things and the best they've had in results is a screen that shows what you ordered and thats it. :(
Haha VRS gets their share of pranks but at least they are actual deaf people making pranks and not stupid immature idiot kids doing it over the internet just to get off. I wish I could :rifle: them with some "grow the f*ck up" bullets.
Using IP Relay and you're experiencing a queue or can't get through and wait times are outrageous? It's because of an increase in the number of prank calls by non-legitimate and non-deaf or non-hard of hearing KIDS (it's summer and they're all bored) who think its funny to prank over relay...
I wave, stomp, and throw things haha. But with my deaf friends, throwing things is appropriate because we know eachother - otherwise throwing something might be considered rude. Haha.
