haha, thanks for your input but I was more thinking of the sign for more of the idea of astonishment or confusion.
Like if someone said or did something unbelievable and you said "What the f--k?"
But I'm not sure if the f bomb has a noun form in ASL, besides being signed as f you.
I...
So today I was messing around and thinking (outloud) in sign and then all of a sudden thunder struck and I wanted to say something along the lines of "What the f---" or "What the hell?"
But I couldn't think of how I would represent that concept in ASL.
Any suggestions to represent that...
Hello all!
I participate in my high school speech team and after an experience with my deaf friend Amanda, I've decided to do my speech this year on deafness.
The problem is that my event requires that I use humor while maintaining a realistic simulation of a speech given to a real group...
So I bought said shirt and wore it to work.
My supervisor must have seen my shirt because she went to help a mother of a deaf child with something and when she left she signed what was on my shirt while walking away, thinking she just said, "have a nice day"
The mother's face was...
It took me less than a year to call my self proefficent, or in other words sign conceptually accurate while in the same word order as English, now I think it will take me about 3 months or so working on grammar before I could become fluent in real ASL.
Then again, language is my drug, so I...
I did message the lady and she told me that, yes, it means eat shit and die and that she did her best to draw the signs.
Thanks for all your guys help, ha ha I feel so stupid for asking now.
Yes, I agree, if they were asking genuine questions I would be more than happy to help them, but now if they just want to go around screaming profanities no, I'm not going to teach them how to say that.
That's so weird, I have never seen die that way, only with flat hands and flipping, like rolling over in your grave never that.
Ha ha although I do like the concept because when ever I'm having a conversation with some one in sign people are always like, "how do you sign deaf chicks are hot?"...
Shirt in question
I mean I recognize, eat and I think the last part is die, and I'm going to take a wild guess say I know what the middle sign stands for.
But I've never see die or shit signed that way and was wondering if I'm right in my interpretation.
Thanks in advance and sorry if...
The first time I ever saw two deaf people was in Walmart and I asked my mom what they were doing with their hands. She responded, "talking to each other."
Then my first year of coaching Special Olympics I walked up behind this girl and asked her where this court was and she started signing me...
Hi!
I've been trying to find out some details on ASL grammar.
My first question: 'When' vs 'Happen' I've been taught the rule but I can't exactly remember it, it's like, ''Use 'happen' in place of 'when' in subordinating clauses'' or something like that but I was wondering if someone could...
