Honestly, I dont think most parent wouldn't care about this if they could get their child to hear. I'm sad to hear this. But there cannot be a progress without prices. This seems to be our price for getting CIs.

Can't you get a light signal that is tied into the security system. I know of someone that does that. She is deaf and uses the light to help her know if something is going on. Like green is for doorbells, red is emergency and yellow is warning.

You could try iPhones. They might be doable. I use them to communicate with my friends and the speaker quality isnt that bad. Plus it's easy for first-timer to get into the environment without any problems

This is really true, for me and couple other in school. A lot of the deaf students in my school tend to be academically strong. BTW Dhh means deaf?

I am sorry if I was being rude, I should have not said that and I realize that there was a time when deaf people were being forced to do one thing and only this. I am living in a world where I didn't grew up and went to a deaf school. All my life, I have been mainstreaming.
