Part of it is her attitude, and part of it is the result of her physical appearance. There is a very real bias in our culture towards people who do not conform to our standards of physical attractiveness. The average person on the street would probably deny that he thinks this way, but the truth of the matter is that we as a culture engage in widespread discrimination against people whom we find unattractive, whether we realize that we’re doing it or not. So the bald fact is that TTT’s physical appearance does close doors for. You can spout all the Pollyanna bullshit about equality that you want, but the bottom line is that she’s at a serious disadvantage in the job market.
Then again, a lot of it is her attitude. It sounds to me like she makes a lot of excuses for herself and doesn’t fully explore every option that is available to her. So it’s not entirely society’s fault, either.
There are absolutely no rational obstacles to you owning and operating a hot dog cart, other than your own lack of desire to make it work. There’s no way you’re ever going to get rich off it, but I think it would be an enjoyable way to make a modest and stress-free income. How much money do you really need, Steve? Would $30 k gross/year do it for you? I'm sure you easily clear that if you were motivated enough to do so.
