Why AOL?

I used to be an AOL user - I used it for several years before finally cancelling my subscription last year. I even got two years' worth of free service because I worked as a chat room host/moderator on a writers' forum within AOL.

You do not NEED it, Reba...most people just like it because it's user-friendly and IMO, for the NAME alone. "AMERICA On-Line?? Oh, in that case, I've GOT to have it!"....It's very famous...and is among one of the first major networks ever established...The founder and CEO is a man named Steve Case, and his picture remains attached to dartboards all over America, as well as overseas. He's created a good service, but the rates suck - and so many users have connection issues nowadays. This is why many people have made the switch from dial-up AOL where you sometimes pay by the hour, to unlimited internet via cable modem or DSL. We are among that group of people and we are satisfied with what we are getting for our money. I actually find that using Outlook and IE is MUCH easier than using AOL...and for chat programs, I use AIM and sometimes MSN Messenger.

Do yourself a favor and discard the CD's that come in the mail. You don't need that kind of aggravation on top of what life throws at you. ;)

I have AOL Dial up and don't pay by an hour, I get unlimited service from AOL. :)

Or use these CDs as frisbees.

Actually I recycle mine...I paint gesso (that reminds me, I need more!) or mod podge on the surface, stamp designs on them, color in the designs, spray clear varnish on them, let them dry, then put felt on the bottom, and presto! coasters!

Ive been doing this for a while - and now breaking them in order to make new designs...why not?

off the topic:

 i wud watch AOL CD sparking in Microwave.

beware: dont try that more than 3 seconds in microwave. or you would be fried.

AOL really sucks. reba, i dont even understand those people are afraid to close their AOL services either. sometimes when they ask me for their PC help, i ask them if they have AOL or not. I wud say no thanks if they have AOL. :) i am bad...

Nice hobby! I like the way when people are trying to find a way to recycle these 'junks'.

I never liked AOL, Aol kill alot of memory in your computer's ram.. also Alot of people use aol cuz it's much easier to use than netscape, or any of brand whatever they are using. but I wouldn't never download aol in my computer.. only way i get a internet is high speed internet cable and install firefox then you are setted!

That's way it will allow your computer have plently of memory.

Exactly. It happened to my computer alot before. Internet high speed cable is the best from what I learn. JMO

AIM is much simple and easier to use than AOL. Sometimes AOL frustrated me because when I signed in and Buddy list disappear when I tried to put on for a few hours and alot of unwanted spams. AOL likes to give solicates every time ask for cancel subscriptions.

AOL was my first internet connection so I figure I try it. At first it was alright then it just when down to crap. Causing to much problems. They charged us 2 internet connection. We only signed up for one and they charged us 2. We told them and they still havent taken off that. So we cancle it all since the dsl came out but they charged us for that. So screw them. Tired of thier bullshits.

I remembered when I first got computer and then 3 months I started AOL as my first internet access then 1 year later, some shit happen that they charged my dad too much so then my dad got fed up and cancelled it so then I used Netzero then finally got verizon DSL then cancelled because my dad cancel verizon service and changed to idt phone service then use Road Runner Cable Modem still using now.. lol

Because I am smarter than AOL staff.
Before they charged me $24 every month,
then I said I will cancelled AOL...
and they said they will charged me $17 every month, if I stay on.
I said okay.
Then few month later, I said I will cancelled AOL...
and they said they will charged me $14 every month, if I stay on...

So there, hehehe, I got cheap service. :D

I think I will stick with Roadrunner. I can have all my computers and TVs on one cable bill. I get great service and support, no billing mistakes. I'm satisfied. :)

To not be anti-AOL or anything else, you have made a good decision.

I used to use AOL until they hiked up the price....now it is about $24.00 a month!! Also, the customer service people are pushy. And when I had AOL mail, I get lots of spam and porn mail. The only thing I liked about AOL is the design..it's pretty fancy. :)

Hi Reba, I don't even know why bashes and hates against aol around with stuffs..

For me, AOL notthing do something wrong with me.. AOL IS SIMPLE COOL AND AWESOME.. I am membership of aol since 1997.. I always ignore the bashes of ppeople speak nasty about aol.. Very simply, I just stay with AOL.. I follow my heart and mind which comfort with AOL without regrets.. LET AOL TRY THEIR BEST IMPROVMENT WITH AOL'S SYSTEM AND PROGRAM FOR THEIR CUSTOMERS'S SATISFACTION!!! smile

Aders, if you dislike AOL, WHY NOT YOU QUIT AIM AND NOT USING AIM ANYMORE SINCE YOU LIKE AIM, NOT AOL. THAT IS NONE SENSE TO ME.. why the heck not you go to using msn or something else instead of aol or aim.. THEN!? ummm

I never have own AOL ever since longest years.. *hmmmm* I heard about AOL stuff went sour hell. In my mind would say AOL stand for Asshole on Lamers (only) *scoff laughing*

Aol

When I 1st. got a computer back in 1991 there were only 1 comp. dial -up and that was aol. i had that for 3 yrs. and then a bunch of (cheaper) servers got in buis. in my area. I have juno. For $9.95 a mon. you get web service w/many other features. I have juno speedband. and pay 14.95 a mon. I downloaded free instant messengers, that are yahoo, msn,and aim. I personally feel aol is costly. Also reba' You can have as many computers as you want. We have 2, I have 1 and my 9yr.old daughter has one. (We got this phone jack thing-a-ma-bob, I am not sure what it's called my husband got it from his computer friend) it alows both of us to be online at same time and i pay only for my service. It's amazing how much stuff is out there. i have had a computer since 1001 but never used it much. Now that i am disabled i am on it alot. I love modern technoligy!!! L.O.L
