If I found a bag of money, I'd try to locate its owner or turn it over to the police. That'd be the right thing to do. :)

I found a purse at clothes shop and ask the shop assistant to ring the owner as she has ID driving licence enclosed.

I found one purse, it has no ID, but I rang the Video Shop and gave my ph no to the owner and she return my call, & came over to collect it. (As she realised her purse is missing, she rang this video to cancel her card!!!)

I hope people would be the same too but I would feel guilty if I spent someone's money - God is watching everyone!!

If I found lots of money with no ID, I don't know as it never happen to me, but my daughter found $100 note on the grass at flea market, I let her to keep it!! Its one of her natural high!!

OOoOo ya money-hunger, eh? Tsk tsk tsk *laughin*

If I found a bag of money with no ID whatsoever, I would take it to the police station and hand it in. Tell them where I found the money. They would probably hold it for one month to see if someone reported it missing, and when they do, they will be asked where it was missing at. If no one report it missing, they would give it back to me. I would give 10 percent of it to my church and to a few people that I know that need money very badly. Then keep the rest for me and my family. I would not want to keep the money when it might belong to someone who needed it very badly. It is much better to give than to receive as per the bible. When you give to someone, you also give it to Jesus. So that this person that I give to may give to others too, making this a better world for everyone to live in.

.. Peachlady that sounds Lovely.. But do u think the Police will give it to u if nobody reported it? I think they will keep it themselves.. Its nice idea to give some to the church and the family I would also do the same.. I never leave my family out I would also love to Help the Children Hospital or Search Group for Missing Children...I love to help anything that related to Children...

Mostly I found $1-$10 dollars on the floor. One time, I found a checkbook on SFSU campus and sensed that it was belonged to someone who works at SFSU. I found the name on SFSU website and emailed him about checkbook. He was delighted and promptly emailed me back. He thought he lost his checkbook!! I learned that he is coordinator for Theater/Media something and earned $$$. I returned the checkbook to him and got $20 reward.

:)

The police station back in Wisconsin will hold the money for a month to see if someone claims it. When someone calls the police station to report money missing, this person has to give description on what money bag looks like and where he/she left it and on what day. If it has any markings or anything with the money bag, he/she must describe it as well. If no one claimed it, it will be retured to the finder. My ex father in law once found a wallet with lots of money, but no ID, so he brought it to the police station. Someone called in to report missing wallet and told the police the names of people in back of pictures in the wallet. This person was right and claimed the money. I do not know if it applies to all states that the police would hold money for up to one month.

I am wondering If Ohio Police Department would do that too... That would be nice...

I agree. That shows "honesty" in the eyes of God. I would do the same. *Winks*

As long the bank doesn't realize that money might be theirs, the bag is safe with me.

uhmm id take it if the bag does not have any identifying information to tell me who the money belongs to -- if it does have identifying information and shit then yes i would give that back to the owner/police in the event theres no further info than just a name on the bag/wallet whatever

once when i was back east and at an event -- a woman had left her purse unattended on a chair (i had observed her put it down) and she continued talking and eventually forgot abt her purse and had moved to another part of the bar (outdoors with patio) and was talking -- i sort of kept an eye on it to be sure no other persons has gotten into it -- after some time (perhaps 10-15 minutes) and no return from the owner of the purse, i looked around and found the woman on the patio and took her purse to her directly and explained that i had observed her putting it down on chair and had forgotten abt it apparently and that i was having it returned to the rightful owner -- she and her male friend (bf or just purely friend i dont know) were thankful that i had returned her the purse

Same here!..

i was 22 yrs old, i went shopping, looked ard there.. so i came back to my car, and saw a $100.00 on sidewalk, i was alike jeez, i hope that no one think i steal or something like that so i step with my shoe on it then i looked ard in public n make sure no one see me so i down n picked it up so put in my purse! then i ZOOOOOOMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM!!! :naughty:

It would depend on what was found. I once found a $20 bill in the bushes when I was cleaning up part of the parking lot where I was working. I kept it. There was another time when I was sitting there and a $100 landed on my chest in the wind. I let it sit there for a few moments before keeping it.

There was a time when a woman left a check for $1,000 on the counter at the local video store I worked at. I gave her a call and she returned to pick it up. She gave me a $20 tip for returning it. Heh!

hmmm...

Some of you did not read what I asked..... :(

I meant was a bag of alot alot of money and not knowing who the bag belongs to....I am not talking about a purse , wallet or a checkbook...Just a bag you found on the street, sidewalk , in your house, in the yard, in the attic, by a garbage dumpster....etc...with no ID on the bag....It could be in a garbage bag , paper bag , plastic bag , or suit case...etc...

Would you try to locate its owner , give it to the police or keep it for yourself...

I'm sorry for the misunderstanding !

Thank you! :D
