I wish to join you there!

Great job OceanBlue! TXGolfer, have fun in Baltimore and DC.

I am thinking how much my butt hurts from that chair dancing class. lol

I did not say that we don't have crimes involving guns anymore. We do, however it's declining.

Crimes committed with guns are mainly criminals from the underworld and some robbers. We have not had another massacre since Port Arthur. Never had a workplace or school shootings unlike the US.

Criminals are finding new weapons to use instead of guns when committing a crime.

We must undergo criminal check and obtain a permit to own or use a gun.

What about bombing? Some school get bomb threats. and can kill just as many people as school shooting.

Glassing is something that has occured now and then in Australia. As for whom does the glassing, I'd say it's men or women, no difference.

From what I have read about whenever assault committed by glass is usually done by drunk, angry men.

It seems to me that either sexes are more aggressive by the decade. I mean girls are now into fighting more because it's popular.

Yeah, a decline in society values.

we make the same argument about guns. You have to do what Americans do, study mental health to help people improve.

We've not had a bombing since world war two. It's rare for schools to receive bomb threats.

As for mental health, well, in Australia and America- they do and could get some mental help but many are left out in the cold because they don't have the financial means to get help or the government's waiting list is too long. Mental Health care is more accessible to those with money than those with little to no money.

So some people will 'snap' and commit terrible crimes.

Heh, now I'm tired and sick of discussing crimes, weapons and mental health care. Time for me to hit the sack, ciao!

it's very rare for us to have school shooting as well. It seem nowadays, people like to play copycat after so much attention brought into that one school shooting.

is it an authoritative source? I mean.... that link is written by an American pro-gunner with a hard-on so....

That's kind of lame... to me at least. Because first:
You have people who have "hard ons" on both sides of the spectrum of ANY issues out there.

They both bring valid points. The ones in the middle are more passive and probably is there for the "job".

Read them all and the influence you receive is pretty much balanced, over time, I'm fairly sure.

that's just what I pointed out. Delectable (as Aussie citizen) with her anecdotal experience and kokonut with some link with some reference to hard-on.

According to the Australian Bureau of Statistics, there was a slight drop in the percent of murders committed with a firearm between 2001 and 2007 (16.0% and 13.4%, respectively). However, the percentage was highest in 2006 (16.3%) and remains higher than the low of 8.9% in 2005. There is no difference in the use of a firearm in robbery: Guns were used in 6.4% of all robberies in both 2001 and 2007.

Better read one of the links again that came with an link to the ABS site with a pdf file.

This was several years after the fact when the buy backs began and saw little results.

While this doesn’t prove that more guns would impact crime rates, it does prove that gun control is a flawed policy. Moreover, for groups like Peace Movement Aotearoa, it’s apparently social justice when more people are raped, robbed, and assaulted, as long as they cannot defend themselves with firearms. This highlights the most important point: Gun banners promote failed policy irregardless of the consequences to the people who must live with them.

oh yes I have the PDF file right here. Anybody can interpret the data in any way he wants along with his agenda. :cool2:

I am thinking of kickboxing Thursday night ( no school) :dance2:

 at Kokonut - you know I am one another australian citizen here.... for canberra, the gun law here that all of the owners was forced to give up their guns and ammo - if they don't, they will be arrested and sent to jail. About 80% gave in, most were UNLICENSCED

Iam thinking that this thread could turn into another poltical debate thread.

Iam thinking that this thread could turn into another poltical debate thread.

I don't think the mods are doing a good job of moving threads or posts that should belong to the political section.

yeah, damnit! don't be ruining this thread with political BS! save that crap for the appropriately labeled threads. I understand this is thread about "nothing" but don't make a long enjoyed thread my many turn into a crap debated thread appreciated by only 1 or 2 people.
