Vending Machine Craze

I believe it stopped around late 80's or early 90's? I'm not sure. :dunno:
Must have been the early 90s, cuz I noticed they weren't around when I was in high school.

Yeah, You're probably right about this.

Whoops, I'm afraid we're getting off the topic, haha. ;)

What really makes it so interesting about parking a car in Japan:

Look at more unusual vending machines in Japan:

Cant wait to see your vending machine pics. Are you going to Tokyo, Yokohama, Osaka or just tour all of Japan?

Especially I would love to see a video of that Houriaya parking lot. I was wondering how in the hell it works.

Tokyo and (I think) Yokohama for few days, not sure. If I see that funny parking machine thing, I will surely, have it filmed. I have a video camera with me too. ;) All photos and videos will be posted in my other thread I created a while ago.

Whoa, I gotta love that Coca Cola Robot Vending Machine! :D

Interestingly, I remember when I was little, I have always seen a lot of cigarette vending machines. You don't see that here anymore.

i think they were banned sometime in the early 90s because the last cigarette vending machine i remember seeing was at a local pizza place in 1987. prior to that, i always used to see them when i was a child back in the 70s.

:barf: Everything's so machinalized. Isn't USA the fattest country? Is it because Asian's walk more?

Some of the stuff are just nasty :barf: like the lingerie or porno mags or cigarettes, and the non-nutritious drinks.

Aren't they expensive anyway? Like $3.00 a bottle for water? Or $1.25 a bottle for sodas?

there are soda machines in my area that charge $1.25 for a 20 oz. plastic bottle of pepsi or $1.00 for a 12 oz. can of coke or pepsi. i remember back in the 70s when a can of soda only used to cost $.50. i also remember during that same time when soda (like coke) was available in a glass bottle and sold for .65 or .70. oh, how i'd give anything to be able to taste coke in glass bottles again! :D i know you can purchase coke in glass bottles on the internet from mexico, but i don't feel like paying $20 or $25 for only 6 bottles.

ClearSky, unfortunately, American is not the fattest country. It is Australia.

There are places around here that still charge $1.00 for a 20-oz soda! :)

I've seen glass bottles of Coke at Walmart. If you can't find them there, order them online at walmart.com. :)

really? there's a walmart super center located some distance away from me. i'll have to give them a call and ask if they carry coke in glass bottles. otherwise i'll check out their website. :ty: for the suggestion. :D

p.s. i wonder if their coke in glass bottles is made with the same ingredients that were available in the 70s?

When I read the label, it said made from sugar instead of corn syrup.

A lot of Walmart stores carry them, but it also depends on the bottling company in the area.

I wanted to get a listing of special edition bottles that they had on the market. So, I contacted Coca-Cola. They told me that they don't make the special edition bottles. They said that different areas make different bottles.

For instance, there's a distribution center here in Dallas that makes annual "Graduate 2008" bottles during the Spring of 2008. So, I have to contact them for more information on where these bottles are being distributed.

At the moment, there aren't any Coca-Cola bottles yet. There will be soon during December for Christmas and these are usually found at Target.

I saw a soda machine that charged .50 cents at a non profit organization not long ago. I was like "they still charge that?" They were the canned and tiny water bottle version. Still, it's so rare to see .50 cents for cans.

I once bought the glass kind, and I thought they still sold those. Maybe they don't sell them so much because people go for the cheaper cans.
