Ultrasound is required before abortion is approved?!

So why should it matter if you have an ultrasound? Just ignore it and abort. It should be easy if you don't care.

but why should an ultrasound be mandatory before abortion?
What is the purpose of it, really?

No idea. It could probably give the doctor more idea what he was doing and what was there to remove.

It is to make sure the woman is fully aware of the consequences.

What a load of crap. This is coming from me, a person who was faced with the possibility of abortion three times. First time, I was pregnant with my twins when they found cancer...and it was too risky to proceed with the pregnancy as I needed to start treatment asap. I refused and kept my babies (one survived)...but I nearly died. Second, gang rape...they found 4 semen samples so there were at least four men but could have been more...I was left to die, which I almost did...and as a result, I was pregnant...I chose to keep the baby but I had every damn right to that abortion. And the third was recently...I just finished treatment with cancer (again) when I discovered I was pregnant - and the doctor urged me to abort because it would, not could but would, kill me...and the chances of the child surviving much longer was null...yet I refused. Sadly the baby's heartbeat stopped and they extracted the body.

So...yeah, there are special circumstances, and no one has a damn right to force me to look at a songram, law or not. This law is SICK.

I am truly sorry to hear about some of your life experiences... I don't want to say anything cliche or condesending but wow, what a picture of strength... Thank you for sharing, very humbling...

I am so sorry to hear about your experiences, deafbajagal.

I am pro-life/pro-choice myself.
I think it helps preventing serious problems like premature birth and birth defects, etc. I don't know. *shrug*
Someone here has better answer than I do.

deafbajagal, thank you for share with us about your personal experience. I'm really sorry to know that...

If pro lifers are not going to take care of all the babies women are forced to have pro lifers should just shut up!

Well, I'm familiar with that question, "Who's going to adopt all of these (unwanted) children?". I was asked the same thing, too. But do you realize there are plenty pro-lifers do adopt children?

By the way, one thing is problem that some people did insist me to not call myself a pro-life if I want to adopt a child. They and I got in a sort of fight, ended up I dropped the choice out because I don't want to deal with "you can't be pro-life if you adopt a child" comments all the time. Now I will have to deal the insults and such... A few another people I personally know who had a similar problem like mine. Now they decided to not adopt any child and got mocked on, too.

This journal is pretty summed up on I had to deal with those situations before: (I know it is a bit of old; 2003.) [link]

People still do... I have see some old & new journals/bloggers and another comments at different forums. OK, let me ask you... have you adopt any child, yet? If no, then why did you ask us? But don't worry, I'm sure those pro-choicers do adopt children too.

((((((((((hug)))))))) I am so sorry you went thru hell with this. My daughter in law's sister was pregnant and found her baby had down syndrome. Doctor wanted her to abort him even it was past stage. She was thinking about it and I wish she had abort it before he grow bigger but she decided to keep it. It was soooooo awful. baby was born and suffered greatly ugly death. His lungs were punctured and could not breath. He needed to have a new lungs but he lived for short 3 days then died. I am so sorry I am having a tear to think how hell he went thru. He would never had to experince if her mother decided to abort him right away when she found she carried a down sydrome. We are all still grieving over his death more than year ago. No one should suffer ugly death period.

Parents of kids with Downs call that type of thing eugenics. I don't agree, but those parents have some of the same arguments that Deaf do.

The purpose of the bill is to make women feel like crap. And it crosses the privacy line. Anyway, like baja said, you can have an intelligent convo with your doc.

Botts...an ultrasound would not be needed for a typical abortion...just to determine the date of conception.

"Hey, let me stick a wad up your vagina while I check around for a fetus...hold still, this is gonna be COLD!"

Nobody knows what it is like until they have experienced what people like Deafbajagal has experienced so to make judgements on women for the decisions they make regarding their pregnancies needs to mind their own freaking business.

People should mind their own business regarding pregnancies no matter what they've experienced!

Pro lifers are waiting in line to adopt those babies.

I don't support to require women to have ultrasound before they can have abortion, unless women want too and they are free to abort their fetus whatever they want. If state pass the law that require ultrasound, registration to state, counseling, restrict or banning on abortion so women in their state will go to other state like CA or NY to have abortion with small or no prior to abortion requirement.

Pro-life has no business with women's body and they are nothing to have serious reason to against on abortion, except for religious belief or concern over population growth like more abortion than birth.

I believe that women need be responsible when they are sex and I had seen some women had sex with men without condom so that how unwanted pregnancy caused so they went to abortion to rid of unwanted babies.

Black babies are less likely to get adopted. Some are even adopted overseas. Doesn't that sound weird? People overseas adopting American babies?
Do you have statistics on the black babies?

Many American children, including non-white babies and children, aren't adopted, not for lack of willing adoptive parents but because of red-tape limbo. They get stuck in a foster care cycle because for legal reasons they aren't free to be adopted. Also, there are waiting couples, who for legal, technical, or financial reasons, are still waiting. (Although, if one has enough money, adoptions can happen post haste.)
