I don't want to get into the whole pro-life/pro-choice debate...but this is something else. And it makes me so mad. It's a real slap in the face, especially to this victim of rape/attempted murder. And especially to me as someone who had cancer while pregnant - twice. I made the decision to keep my babies, but nonetheless, I had to have the conversation with the doctors about it. Truly heartbreaking.

Politicians in Texas are using this as a smokescreen because of the heat from all the budget problems. But seriously, this is crossing the line. (imho)

Very Pro-woman?

It really depends on how one views it. Some people may view it as a way to emotionally blackmail women into keeping their babies...others may see it as something that saved them from making a bad decision.

Again, it is all subjective, IMO.

But yet we would like potential CI implantees to know of all the possible harm and consequences from that procedure. :hmm:

I have to disagree...this is in regards of making a decision on whether to eliminate (a life as pro-life believers would say) or if we want to get medical, a fetus.

Getting a CI doesnt require the elimination of something ..well maybe residual hearing.

I am pro-choice but I CAN see how that can be viewed by others who view it differently.

It is just a sticky situation for me.

You don't need a sonogram to have a good conversation with a doctor, who is supposed to tell you all the risks, etc. before you proceed to make a decision. lol

Don't they run you through a machine before they implant?

To me this bill smelled of emotional blackmail.

They didn't stop to consider that there are varying factors why women gets abortion.

I'm sure that women may have abortion in other states, probably California or New York, wherever abortion is widely accepted without harsh progress.

Sick... sick

Emotional Blackmail is all it is...

Making the decision alone is hard enough...

How is it emotional blackmail? Isn't it providing the woman with full disclosure so that she can make an informed choice? If she truly believes that the fetus is not a human being, then it shouldn't bother her.

I agree with you up to the point of "if she truly believe that the fetus is not a human being..." I think it should be more along the lines of, "if she truly believes this is morally right..."

But yes, I agree: how is this emotional blackmail? If you cannot look at a sonogram of the life growing inside of you without feeling reservations, then you should seriously consider not having and abortion.

At the same time, why should a woman be required to view that sonogram? I think the option of viewing the sonogram should be offered to her, nothing more.

I'm sure they do not force the women to view the Ultrasound.

Personally, I think this bill is ok, yes it was obviously created as an emotional blackmail, but that is just fine with me. If someone is strong enough to handle an abortion, they should be strong enough to deal with this too.

Too bad that they probably will see that introducing this bill didn't make a dent in the number of abortions, but increased the $$$ spent on sonograms. Oh well! Whatever makes the conservatives feel better.

All very well if they wish to do it but who's paying for it?
Does the Government pay for these ultrasounds?

If anything there should def be an exception for rape victims...

It is forcing a woman to do something against their wishes ! And that is wrong! it should be no one damn business what a woman does ! If I was was raped and got pregnant I would not want the baby! It be would giving the rapist more power over my body! People need to mind their own damn
business when it come to a woman and her body! If pro lifers are not going to take care of all the babies women are forced to have pro lifers should just shut up!

I agree...

It is emotional blackmail... How is it any different from an victim looking into their attackers eyes before they are killed? (Long shot I know but still, they are trying to get their attacker to see that they are human!! Watch Silence of the Lambs... They kept using the victim's name, even she kept using her name) - anyway I'm getting off track...

I understand that women should have all the information available to make this difficult decision but how is an Ultrasound providing that? What does the ultrasound do other than offer a picture of whats growing inside and a chance at hearing the heatbeat? The Doctor should be providing all the nec info she needs, risks, councelling etc...

Rape victims should NEVER have to go through this... If I was raped, why would I want to see the bastard's seed growing in me?
To have a baby born out of hate and violence... I applaud those who have the strength to keep their child, I couldn't.

So why should it matter if you have an ultrasound? Just ignore it and abort. It should be easy if you don't care.

This is a far better reason block such a bill. And aren't conservatives supposed to be against frivolous waste of our tax dollars?
