I have wonderful news.

Tonight, after a week of thinking, I made decision to try apply for EMT courses in Northeastern University in Boston, Massachusetts!

If there's any EMTs on AllDeaf.com, let me know!

Congrats. :thumb: That takes some big brass ones—deaf people in the medical professions get a lot of shit from hearing co-workers and superiors. It’s not an easy life. But keep the faith, and don’t let them drag you down. And if anybody messes with you, let me know. I’ll put you in touch with some people who might be able to help you out.

Congrats! You can do anything, don't let anyone stop you from being EMT! I hope you pass class..

That's great! We've got a volunteer EMT group at RIT. Those EMTs are students as well.

prostock19 is the EMT training in RI if u wanna hook up with him to get some info !

That's wonderful HappyRambo and Congratulate  !!

Congrats...good luck! :) If you need any tips -- get in touch with Prostock19 as he's an EMT in training as well. ;)

Yes, I will try to get in touch with Prostock19.

Thank you for your suggestion, PurpleRose71.

I will let you if I get accepted in.

No, I’ve never heard of that book. Thanks for the tip—Amazon.com has some used copies for $5.00. I just ordered one. After I read it I’m going to give it to my girlfriend. She’s a respiratory therapist who worked for 15 years at a major metropolitan hospital. She caught a lot of shit from everybody because she’s deaf. I’ve also heard stories from other deaf people who worked in hospitals. One RN told me about a surgeon who refused to wear a clear face shield so that she could speechread him. You would think that medical professionals would behave professionally—but sadly that’s not the case these days.

Happy Rambo,

Am delighted you've decided to enrol into Northeastern and do a course in EMT! Way to go! :applause:

Good luck! :thumb:

Well in that case, HappyRambo then im real happy for you and good luck!
My husband was a former EMT as he was trained for it when he was a Fireman years ago..he really liked it.
