While I was typing a post response for another thread, I heard my door bell ring. I went downstairs, and saw this sign in my front yard. Oh, no! This is the third time it's happened, and I feel guilty about it. I didn't even know the subdivision was still doing this (I thought they quit giving this a couple years ago). It's very embarrassing, and lots of pressure. Now I feel obligated to work harder on my yard so people won't say, "Huh? Why did THEY get the sign?"
If anything, I would prefer my elderly neighbors would win the honor. I've been working hard on improving their front yard for them, and I think they should get the "most improved" honor. They would be so tickled.
I can't move the sign to their house because it's chained and padlocked to the tree by the subdivision representative.
Honestly, I don't do my yard as a "competition." I just fix it the way that pleases me. Personally, I think many of our neighbors have much nicer yards. Maybe the "judges" just felt sorry for me because they saw me outside sweating and hauling my garden tools, heh, heh. (Many people hire professional landscape crews; I do everything myself.)
Well, I guess it beats the time some kids TP'ed our front yard. :P
