Did he actually victimize children? Or did he recieve the pics of it?
What exactly did HE plead guilty to
A 16 ywar ols and a 17 year old are not children.
Im not defending him. I trying to get precise details. Not hype

What does age of consent mean?

Rochelle Herman was former journalist... She told FBI that Jared made off-color comments about young girls without evidence. She felt disturbed and she have to do something about him. Jared told Herman that He thought MIDDLE SCHOOL girls were so hot. HE said Middle School girls .... how old middle school girls? High school girls could be 14-18 but middle school girls below than 14. SHe said he talked about sex with underage children and he say it was something that he really, really enjoyed. so she notifed law enforcement authorities and FBI gave her wire to record her conversation with Jared. She worked with FBI recording evidences for years. Jared did told her he did have sex with minors. FBI found Jared possessed images and videos. HE plead guilty own video, pictures and traveling across state lines have sex least two teenage girls. AGE of Consent is like The law's girl and boy age legal to have sex. Like 18 is most of legal. But Jared interested underage which is not legal.

Yes, have you ever read about OJ Simpson? He basically got away with murder.

No "basically" about it. He got away with two murders. Hopefully they'll keep Fogle in jail long term...I do feel sorry for his family.

Right. She had to do something about someone who essentially did a thought crime. He said he thought some girls in middleschool where hot. Would she hve felt the same at his thought crime if he instead said, he thought they were a bunch of ugly lepor hags,? She couldnt accept his thoughts thus as a thought crime went to the feds. Ok.

Jared told Herman that He thought MIDDLE SCHOOL girls were so hot. HE said Middle School girls .... how old middle school girls? High school girls could be 14-18 but middle school girls below than 14.
Yes he thought that. So america does indeed have thought crimes. Was he charged with a thought crime?

SHe said he talked about sex with underage children and he say it was something that he really, really enjoyed.
so she notifed law enforcement authorities and FBI gave her wire to record her conversation with Jared. She worked with FBI recording evidences for years. Jared did told her he did have sex with minors.

He as far as the evedence goes, did not have sex with underage children. He had sex with those of the age of consent. Which is legal.

FBI found Jared possessed images and videos. HE plead guilty own video, pictures

Yes indeed he did. And thats the crime he is being punished for, not thinking grade 8 girls are hot. Or that some are butt ugly.

and traveling across state lines have sex least two teenage girls.
Those teens were of the age of consent.

AGE of Consent is like The law's girl and boy age legal to have sex. Like 18 is most of legal. But Jared interested underage which is not legal.
The age of consent is clear. He did NOT as far as the evedence goes have sex with underage girls, or children. He had sex with those of the age of consent. And this is NOT why he is being punished. Not n the courts. In public opinion yes. But the courts no.the courts are punishing him for his actual crime of recieving images and being in possesion of images of child pornography.

Yes indeed. He played the game and won in those cases. Its just a game. And those with loot are better able to play it, then a poor man with nothing.
Oj is in prson now though

The disgraced Subway pitchman will pay his 14 victims $1.4 million in restitution.

Jared Fogle has agreed to what federal prosecutors are calling a "historic" plea deal in response to the charges he distributed child pornography and repeatedly pursued paid sex with minors.

As part of Fogle's plea deal announced Wednesday by the U.S. Attorney's office in the Southern District of Indiana, the disgraced Subway pitchman will pay a total of $1.4 million in restitution to the 14 victims identified by prosecutors. Fogle faces up to 12 years in prison.

The restitution from the plea deal is the largest cash amount ever ordered for a child pornography or sex trafficking case in the history of the Southern District of Indiana, according to Tim Horty, a spokesman for the U.S. Attorney's office in Indianapolis.

"One hundred thousand dollars per person is enough to get [the victims] into some counseling service and allow them the opportunity to -- at least in the prostitution situation -- get themselves out of that situation," Horty told The Huffington Post Wednesday.

Eight of Fogle's victims are still minors; the remaining four are "now adults in desperate straits," Assistant U.S. Attorney Steven DeBrota told reporters Wednesday.

Though Horty was unable to go into specifics for privacy reasons, he told HuffPost of the victims' circumstances, "You can imagine — life situation in general: Parents who were not particularly supportive, no financial means to even carry on with some of life’s basic necessities."

Horty also noted that "a couple of families had multiple victims."

Horty also noted that "a couple of families had multiple victims."

The U.S. Attorney's office anticipated the victims will apply the restitution to needs like counseling, housing and education.

"It sounds like a lot of money, but it’s our opportunity to help make the victims whole,” Horty said.

Shortchanged victims not uncommon

Fogle's estimated net worth of $15 million means his victims are likely to receive the full amount of restitution ordered. According to attorney and former U.S. federal judge Paul Cassell, that's not often the case for victims of sex crimes.

Cassell told HuffPost not only do many abusers lack the wealth to make the restitution payment, victims are only eligible for it if they can enumerate specific loses -- like property, income or employment -- as a result of the abuse.

"The current laws in this country do not currently cover emotional distress — [victims] would have to file a civil claim," Cassell said. A victim incurring $100,000 in counseling costs as a result of their trauma could, for instance, present that as an enumerated loss.

"Frankly, I think it’s one of the flaws in our restitution structure," Cassell said. "A victim of child sex assault has suffered an immense trauma, but the current laws take a different approach and only covers what’s considered ‘out of pocket expenses.'"

Restitution payments -- or in some cases, damages from separate civil claim against the abuser -- are used at the victim's discretion and are not taxed.

“If these victims here had theoretically taken Mr. Fogle to civil court for a tort or personal injury claim, what they recovered would not be subject to taxes,” Jim Gliday, an Indianapolis-based tax attorney, told The Huffington Post. "I’d be really, really surprised if that was different in a criminal case."

Though neither the courts nor the U.S. Department of Justice systematically tracks restitution awards, a department spokesman told The Huffington Post a $3.68 million reward ordered for child porn restitution was -- "to the best of our knowledge" -- among the largest in the nation.

A Florida court in 2009 ordered Arthur Staples, a Virginia-based deputy sheriff convicted of child porn trafficking, to pay a victim $3.68 million in restitution. Staples incidentally had an estate of roughly $2 million, but the U.S. Supreme Court would later toss the award.

According to the New York Times, Staples ultimately paid his victim less than half of the originally ordered amount.

The "historic" plea deal is "historic" because the feds probably don't want anyone delving too deeply into the sites that he used because some of their (feds) names might come up. A friend has downloaded the entire information that was posted over the weekend about the sites that Fogle frequented and there are many prominent government and military members and their government email addresses listed that also use the same sites.

APNewsBreak: Former Subway pitchman's victims get $1 million

INDIANAPOLIS — Ten victims of former Subway pitchman Jared Fogle have received a total of $1 million in restitution since he agreed to plead guilty to child pornography and sex-crime charges, and his four other victims could receive their checks by the time he is sentenced next month — a move prosecutors said is rare.

The $100,000 checks were hand-delivered to each of the 10 victims or their parents over the last several weeks, with each signing a form saying they had received the money and that it is intended to benefit that particular victim, Assistant U.S. Attorney Steven DeBrota told The Associated Press on Thursday.

DeBrota said he's handled only one other case in which restitution was paid to victims before sentencing in nearly a quarter-century of prosecuting child porn cases.By the time a federal judge sentences Fogle on Nov. 19 to a minimum of five years in prison, DeBrota said prosecutors expect to have either presented $100,000 checks to Fogle's four other victims or have plans in place to disburse those funds to them.

That money will pay for mental health counseling, medical care and other needs the 14 victims might have now or in the future to help them recover from the trauma. Three adults and seven minors had received their checks as of Thursday. DeBrota said that money will help them "go on with their lives and put them where they should have been had none of this happened."

Fogle agreed on Aug. 19 to plead guilty to one count each of travelling to engage in illicit sexual conduct with a minor and distribution and receipt of child pornography. Prosecutors have agreed not to seek a sentence of more than 12½ years in prison and Fogle agreed not to ask for less than five years.Carol Hepburn, a Seattle attorney who has helped several child porn victims pursue restitution, said the vast majority of restitution orders in those cases are never fully paid. She said she hopes the disgraced spokesman's wealth and quick restitution to his victims will have no impact on the length of his sentence."I would hope that justice is equal for those who have money as well as those who don't," Hepburn said.

Fogle became a Subway spokesman more than 15 years ago after shedding more than 200 pounds as a college student, in part by eating the chain's sandwiches. Subway ended its relationship with Fogle after authorities raided his suburban Indianapolis home in July.Court documents detailing the charges against Fogle say that he had sex at New York City hotels with two girls under age 18 — one of whom was 16 at the time — and paid them for that sex.

Both of those victims are now adults over 18, as are two of the 12 youths prosecutors said were victimized by Fogle's failure to alert authorities that an associate of his was allegedly producing child pornography of those minors using hidden cameras.Prosecutors allege Russell Taylor, the former director of a foundation Fogle created to raise awareness and money to fight childhood obesity, secretly filmed those minors as they were nude, changing clothes, or engaged in other activities.

DeBrota said Fogle — a 38-year-old father of two — received photos and videos from Taylor of several of those 12 youths, although not all of them. He said Fogle nonetheless played a role in victimizing all of them because he knew they were minors — some as young as 13 or 14 — but failed to alert authorities who could have prevented Taylor from victimizing some of them.

Hepburn said that for most crime victims, time puts a growing distance from the crime itself and its victims, allowing them to recover. But child porn victims, some of whom are forced into sex, face ongoing trauma for years because that material continues to circulate on the Internet, keeping them in fear that others, possibly friends or co-workers, might discover those online.

"Imagine your most humiliating and shameful and terrifying experience and having not only pictures but videos of that up on the Internet? It's a very chilling prospect," she said.

By the time prosecutors signed their plea deal with Fogle, he had transferred the agreed-on $1.4 million in restitution to the law firm representing him, which in turn placed it in a trust account that federal prosecutors are tapping to pay his victims, DeBrota said.Fogle attorney Jeremy Margolis said in an August statement after Fogle signed his plea deal that "Jared fully recognizes that such monetary contribution will not undo the harm he has caused" but hopes it can help "these individuals as they try to move forward with their lives."Fogle's attorneys said Thursday they had no comment on the distribution of that money.
