Stupid customer

Just put in the ad "firm price." That will make it clear that negotiating is not an option.

Instead of getting angry think of the hagglers as fodder for great stories to tell in the future. You can even say, "Thank you for giving me another stupid customer story. My friends love it!" Then show them the door.

Personally I wouldn't do that though. I would just say that the price is already extremely low, and as stated in the ad, not negotiable. But if they insist, you will consider a higher offer. For the heck of it, if there were no other customers around and I wasn't busy I would go in the other direction. If the customer offered $50.00 for something I said was for sale at $120.00, I would say -- "Congratulations sir, the price is now $190.00." But I don't think you are wired that way so you should just feel free to show them the door.

You're going to die young if you let all that little stuff stress you out. Maybe you should take an anger management course.

I already recommended that. Seems he hasnt taken us up on the advice.

So many people come here to vent about all sorts of insignificant stuff. For some people, complaining about every little thing in their life on AD is an institution. But we don't tell them to seek anger management or that they're going to die young. :hmm:

Why are you singling derek out here? Doesn't make sense to me.

I guess he could have used one of the threads dedicated to this sort of thing, but really, let's not be arbitrary here.

Remember buyers like to feel like their getting a deal, so don't sweat the small stuff, just tell them "No, I'm not selling for that low - don't be so insulting, buddy. This is my price, take it or leave it."

Posts from hell.. you can sell me your body for free.. Woo.. You better not get upset if you feel I am lowballing you. You can't fault me for that. :-D

I remember, years ago, I went to a yard sale my friend was having and there was a small pair of stereo speakers that caught my eye. I wasn't looking for a deal as he was a friend of mine. I didn't care about the money. I looked at one speaker and didn't see a price on it so I asked my friend how much the speakers were. He looked at me and said, "for you"? I said, Yes and he replied, $1. Now, mind you, I'm thinking I got a great price and at the same time helped out a friend, I was pretty happy. Well, when I go home I took a look at the other speaker and there was a price tag on it for, you can imagine, $1. I had to laugh.

But, would you think that was deceiving?

Why do I think this is a limited time offer with strings attached??? :naughty:

I'm trying to sell this machine.....

Yardman snowblower 10.5 HP

ONe customer was interested. He loaded up his trailer, drove one hour for the machine, and then offered $50 for it. I was very mad when he wrote down on a piece of paper "$50". I snagged that piece of paper from him and he walked away!! I don't care that he is an senior citizen and he hooked up trailer to his truck to check it out.

IF he wanted to offer $50, why would he just not ask me before going all this trouble of loading up trailer and driving an hour each way?

Why do people thinks that just because they came to see what I have for sale that it's ok to low ball me in person and they may get it?

I have a funny story about buying a car for my son, I found real nice 1998Honda Civic CX I think (can't remember now but he still driving around) and was selling for $4500 I think. I tried to negotiate with dealer and she offer the price as low she can go. Then I spoke with my son over AIM and I send him a pictures and he love it. Just before I decided to speak with dealer again, and I do have plenty of money in my saving account, I decided to transfer the money out of saving account to another account so the balance in saving show $3500.00. Then I went back to see the dealer, and I told the dealer all I have is $3500.00 and I pulled out my smartphone, logged in to my bank acount and show the dealer of how much money I have in saving, and I acted like a sad puppy face. She looked at me, then she said.. hold on let me speak with my boss. Few minute later, she came back and she accepted the offer. YES!!!! F*CKING $1000 off!!! She's a fool but it was nice of her to try hard to help me getting this car for my son. My son was very thrill and he wanted me to buy one way ticket to fly down on same day that I brought the car... I told him hell no. LOL So, I brought the ticket in two weeks advance, lot cheaper than buying ticket on same day!!

Because he uses terms like "mad" and "upset" to describe his reaction, and he "snagged" the paper away. In his other thread he practically displays rage over prices. That's way over the top reaction.

It's possible that he's not really angry, and that he's adding some color for dramatic affect. However, from his descriptions, it sounds like he repeatedly comes close to blowing up.

Complaining to us and blowing up in front of strangers aren't the same thing.

Thank you for all of your interests.

First of all, I had like 3 other people who were willing to pay my asking price of $120. So therefore, I would afford to be rude to the person who offered $50. I move on to next person. I got my $120, thank you very much.

What if I sold this snowblower for $50 to first customer, then I had 3 other people that wanted it for $120? Do I contact first customer, please sell it back to me for $50 so that I would sell it for $120 to the interested party? You would be upset if you knew that you can get $120 for it, why would you settle for $50?

It does not matter if there is $20 or $75 difference in price. I personally think that if I put a price of $75 firm, then I would be upset getting an $50 offer. If I put a price of $75, then I can just say no, I do want $75.

I would get upset if I was selling a $125 item for $75. I would like to think the buyer know they're getting a good deal and take it. Not insult me with an offer or ask if they can get it for a lower price.

It's not an insult to make an offer or ask if they can get it for a lower price. That's the name of the game when it comes to business. It's only insulting if you perceive it as such. I try all the time to see if I can get a better offer - never had anyone get angry with me - they would either laugh and say "no way" and walk away or they would haggle.

When I used to sell tango shoes, I had customers asking for discounts all the time and I would only agree if they were repeat customers or if they brought me new customers or if they were buying 2 pairs or more. Life is way too short to get upset with every single customer hoping to get a lower price.
