^Angel^ said:...I also happen to agree with Shiva, you can get information as whether the patient is staying at that hospital, if you are a family member, and They would had given Spicy that information if her sister was a patient at that hospital....I've done it many times myself and I had no problem at all...
Spicegurl -- i can understand ur concerns -- i would call the cops to ask them to check the welfare of ur sister -- ur sister should at least be able to understand that u were worried enuf to actually call the cops asking them to check on her welfare
Reba said:It depends on how each hospital interprets the HIPPA policy. Some hospitals will not give any information over the phone because they have no way to verify that it is actually a family member calling. Some hospitals refuse to even give information about patients to the police when they are searching for a suspect. Sometimes it just depends on who answers the phone. Some strictly follow the law, some don't.
You were clear, and I understood you before.^Angel^ said:I think you might have misunderstood me Reba, I did not mean it as finding information about the patient I meant was to call to see if this person is a patient at that hospital, if not, then that person would look in the phone book for another hospital and call that hospital to find out if the person is a patient there, it goes on and on until someone finds the right hospital, I've seen it happen all the time, and no one that I know of ever had a problem getting thru the hospital by knowing if a name of a person happen to be a patient there, I already know about the information about the patent like " why the patent is there etc ", of course that information can not be given over the phone....
