Sending The Wrong Message to Children?

Yes, candy cigarettes. I think they still sell these but they aren't as easy to find as they used to be. They're made out of chocolate with paper wrapped around it like a real cigarette would be.

I used to eat these candies when I was younger, yet I never started smoking. Not even a real puff. :)

My cigarettes candies wasnt chocolate. It was more like hummmmmmm what should I say but it better then chocolate. I can find them at one store the I know of and it cost me .15 per box. :D Still do buy them.

You can order it if you want it. :D

Wow, thanks for the cool link! It brought back many memories. I saw many of my childhood candies listed there. I loved them back then, but now when I read the ingredients in them I think, yuck, that doesn't sound good, ha, ha. I am sure I wouldn't like to eat them now.

I found another candy at the site that became politically incorrect. The "Chocolate Babies" (also known by other names) was considered "racist" by some people. Interesting.

Thanks for the walk down memory lane. :)

Lol, same here, brings back floods of memories, whoa.
Going off topic a bit, but I remember "flesh" colored crayons, and because they were considered politically incorrect, they stopped using that "color."

Yes it was white not chocolate I was like eh? when Banjo said chocolate cuz I don't remember a chocolate one .... :laugh2:

I used to eat that candy long time ago too but not too much through It was alright back in the old days. ;)

But, I don't think children would pay attention to labeled on the candies's bag they usual eat the candies much in a rush than reading the package.

I just believe children should not be eating any kind of candy. If any of you have seen the Super Nanny or Nanny 911 shows you can see how the kids are bouncing off the walls after they eat sugary foods and candy.

Actually, they just shouldn't be eating tons of candies. These kids I've seen on Super Nanny had consumed quite a large amount of junk food which is why the parents had such a difficult time controlling them.

Only a tiny amount of candies should be allowed to be consumed if the kids want some. There's nothing wrong with eating some once in a while. Fruits and vegetables... doesn't exactly appeal to kids that much as a treat.

Yes, I remember these white ones too. But yes, they did have some in chocolate. I remember them.

Yes, I remember eating these two cigarette lollies (sweet/candy)

one is chocolate with fine thin paper around, and another one is all white, and paint red tip at the end!!!

I still have a photo of me as a little girl pretend to inhale this cigarette!

I used to play and pretend to be smoker, I was carbon copy my dad's heavy smoker.

It is very rare to find this cigarette candy isn't it?

There is nothing wrong with children having candies once a while, It's a special treats for them. About the Super Nanny I watched that show and love that show, the problem with those children are that some parent are not taking up their responsible to do regularly schedule, mostly letting the children take charge and taking power over the parent. That is the major problem with children. Parents give in to tantrums, they are teaching children that they can get whatever they want if they scream loudly enough and cause a scene, That's the problem. It's a "no no".

I absolutely agree with you on this. While I also agree that sugar also plays a role, and needs be moniterd, I don't see the harm in giving a "sweet" to a child now and then.

But, Cheri's right. Children absolutely need limits! You can't let a 3 yr old rum amok doing whatever they danged well please. If you do it at 3, what do you think the kid is gonna be like at 13?

I think you should start setting limits even before they can really get into trouble. There's no reason why you can't put your baby to bed early, and then, continue that as the baby gets older. One of things parents seems to back off on, is bedtime. Who in their right mind lets their toddler stay up til 10pm? But, some parents do. They are setting themselves up for a nightmare as the kid gets older.
