Run

I only run if something real big and real mean is chasing me.

Sounds like my gf. Her famous words are: "I only run if I have to. If you see me running, you better run too!"

nah
I just walk a lot, I have some minor leg problems and running makes them worse.
Although along with what others have said, I can run really fast if I need to. It just doesn't happen that often.

I love running. I need to buy me a brand new pair of running shoes. Im curios, where do you run? I run on treadmill in basement. I get bored and must do something. :) My fastest one mile is 7 minutes.

why not run outside?

I run outside. Asphalt, grass, dirt, pavement. Lots to see and can go long time.

In 10 years, I have run on a treadmill less than 20 times, mostly on vacation.

Fastest first mile is 6:20-30, fluctuates. That doesn't really matter though, unless you want to get 2 miles under 16:00 like they have in the marines.

Total overall miles is the best, like marathons.

Both. I like outside the best. I use treadmill only if it were raining outside or workout classes at the ymca.

:eek3: he is proud of it! are you ready for 20k yet???
I've never ran more than 9 miles my longest in one go. too hot and too much!

i need to get back to running next summer. I used to run 150-200K a week swimmed 5000m 3 times a week (yes 5K, and thats non-stop in a 50M poolx100 lengths) first 20 length slow and easy by 50-70 i got fast beating most ppl , 80-100th i slow down, at last 10 lenght i dont slow down that much about 10 sec slower then 70-80th lenghts...

i busted my ankle some 8 years ago so it took a long time to get over it, since recently (laat 6 months) i have 2 new dogs, and so i am 'forced' to walk them daily, sometimes twice a day shortest would be 45 mins at a time, longest 3 hours. I feel less pain in the ankle now, so I think id be ready to start jogging again when i finish my death paper , for that id plan to start of with a 3km jog, build up to 5 k then do that for 1 month then 10k jog then a 5k RUN..then start what happens but no i dont plan to do any marathons nor halves, just a decent 10-15 k run with the dog within 2 years and do that 2x a week and every other days jog or walk...nothing crazy

you can, just run the first 5 ks slow as in jog then next 5 ks just above the jogging speed then build up to 15-18th k as run then last 2 ks slowing BUT not forcing the 'stompings' do a more let the legs run by itself but ease up on the breathing...easy does it...you'd find yourself doing it OK...secret is really start the SLOW and keep it slow for the first 5-7 Kms AVOID the temptation to build'flick' to normal runing speeds, hold it off longer...
then relax...just run like gliding but dont trip up lol

discpline, AND for longer run, keep your hands low, holding it high wears you out too quickly, conserve your energy...if you look at marathons on tv, videos you'd Never see then holding.,swinging arms up high ever! and dont clesh fists, relax...not poofy flop flop, just a normal open fist, if floppy your wirsts will be the point of tension and imbalance... so its about being balanced and relaxed just jog 'faster' its a good approach
thats from my experience i Never read running books, i find them boring...
